I bought these to replace a pair of RS170 that I have worn for 8 hours a day for over three years. I even exercise in them and they tend to fall of my ears often when I bend over. The old speakers had become very loose and the base was no longer charging them even when I got new batteries. These are working great and the sound is just a bit better than on my old speakers however while the RS170 was a closed system and therefore could not be heard by others, these are an open system and people can hear them. I am sure that in about three years I will need new ones again but I will enjoy them in the mean time. Since i wear them all day (neighbors don't like loud music), I walk all over my apartment in them. There is one spot at the far end with two walls between me an the receiver where they cut out but in general the sound is clear with excellent base. They sound as good as wired speakers.Read full review

I have had several wireless headphones and all of them were noisy on quiet passages and cut in and out a lot, depending on where I was in the house. I had given up on wireless, but I read about the Sennheiser 180's recently and the KLEEN technology. So, I ordered a pair of 180's. They're not cheap, but if you're willing to pay for what you get, the 180's give you what you paid for, which is clean, dependable, and good sound. These headphones sound like wired headphones and after a month with them, they have never cut out or had any hiss or noise at all. The auto level control (ALC) seems to work well, too and avoids a lot of the large volume fluctuations with TV listening. Plus, the ALC brings up the quiet passages so you can hear the dialog, but without introducing hiss or noise. I've used them in every room in the house, the garage, outside, and they haven't cut out yet, so their range is quite good, at least 75 feet in my case. I've had no issues with the open air design, in that others don't hear them as long as I'm listening at a normal volume level. But, the sound is very good and the open design allows me to be aware of the phone ringing or someone calling to me in the room. As for wearing comfort, they're as good as any over the ear headphone I've worn, which means that you'll want to take a break every hour or so. This is fine with me, as I have to get up for a drink or pit stop by then anyway, so it's a good chance to take a break, even though I COULD leave them on and keep listening if I really wanted to. The bottom line is, the 180's have very good sound, they have been very dependable, and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a GOOD set of wireless headphones and is willing to spend a little more to get the quality. Mine were about $250 on Ebay.Read full review
I had bought, and received a set of the RS-180 headphones manufactured by Sennheiser, and the set-up, and overall operation of these phones were a snap! I have owned/worn many sets of headphones over the years, but when I put this particular set on, it was AMAZING, the comfort, and overall LIGHTness of these phones..! They felt great, and after a short charge time for batteries, and the first play/use of these phones was amazing...Sound/quality and reproduction was absolute wonderful...I play vinyl records ALL time, and will be my primary use for these phones...Alltho I own MANY CD's, I do not play much in the home at all, but I can see where they would sound amazing with the RS-180 ! If you are sincere in your listening habits and music, you owe yourself a chance with these headphones..! A little pricey, but well worth the cost... Cheers, and Happy Listening ! ! ! (Yes, I was one of the "Tied to a cord" listeners, of ? a FEW years back, when the HEAVIER the set of headphones, the better quality...! This is NO longer true ! ! ! ) Thanx, Sennheiser ! ! !Read full review
I have what I consider to be a very nice sound system consisting of all top of the line McIntosh gear driving Tannoy speakers along with a McIntosh sub-woofer. I enjoy listening to my music and also routing the audio from the TV through the system when watching movies. I like it LOUD! At times, to keep peace in the family, my listening would be limited. So, I decided what I needed was a good set of headphones. Did the research and decided on the Sennheiser RS180. I wanted the same freedom to move around as I would have if the Tannoy's were blasting. The Sennhesier's have delivered exactly what I wanted. They are comfortable, sound great and allow me the freedom to listen to what I want when I want. I have not had a single problem and so far no matter where i might be in the house the signal has never been dropped. What more can you ask for? Well the only thing i could think of would be: i love using them in the morning while others sleep, during this alone time and often after taking care of business i crank up the shower, to bad they aren't waterproof. I'll just end this by saying, I'm pleased with my purchase.Read full review
I had an older version of a Sennheiser (HDR130)that I enjoyed for a few years. The headband finally cracked in half so I couldn't use it any more. Sennheiser, much to my dismay did not have a replacement head band avaiable for this model so I started researching a replacement. I was always happy with the older headset until it broke. This unit (RS180) sounded great to me so I bought and didn't pay much attention to the couple of negative comments from other users about the placemnet of the audio controls on the headrests. They were right. I don't know what the engineers were thinking about when they put the controls in an awkward spot behind the right earpeice. Its a whole learning process to learn where the volume adjusts from. The left and right balance controls are smaller and even further down the back. The controls are smooth and hard to feel with your fingertips. The original unit hade a wheel control, simple, easy to reach much better design. I've had to glue a piece on the volume control to feel were it was at and then use it to help me judge where the other butttons were. I've also found that the earpieces are not as comfortable over a long period of time as my old ones were. Maybe because the new ones (RS180)are relatively new and need to break in yet. I like the sound of the 180's and the fact that I can add other listeners to the same transmitter, but I think all that could have been accomplished with a better volume control design That's all folks!Read full review
