This CD is wonderful, Teresa accomplishes a fusion of Traditional Hawaiian music with smooth jazz, by both weaving together alternating songs of both styles, and also by the influence of both styles on each other in her renditions. The result of her clean, warm vocals gliding along over instrumentals that add a little swing, a little blues, a flavor of decades past is that it evokes images of a 1950's Luau or MaiTai Lounge Singer. The most apt analogy I can come up with is her voice sounds like what the love child of Jessica Rabbitt and Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole might be lucky enough to inherit. This CD alternates traditional songs sung in Hawaiian in her beautiful voice, which is soothing and very pleasant with her jazzy numbers that are Island-centric, the subject matter of several songs is the life of island women who are vamps, vixens and peformers for the tourist trade. Her voice is like putting Honey and Butter on a warm biscuit, the blending resulting in something better than the sum of the parts, this CD could be your unwind music at the end of the day, just put a mini-parasol in a chunk of pineapple, float that in your beverage, sit back in your baggy shorts and slippers, close your eyes and feel the warm, white sand under you as the day melts away.Read full review
