Kung Fu Kid is a middle-of-the-road button-masher in which the martial artist players control can jump (very high), kick and throw talismans. Curiously, he cannot punch. The seven colorful levels vary in length and difficulty, and some of the enemies, such as lobsters and frogs, are oddly out of place. Bosses have obvious patterns and are simple to defeat, but the game is nevertheless a challenge (sometimes to the point of frustration) because the life meter is short and takes a lot of damage when you are touched. Also, players are sent back to the beginning of a level when killed, even when fighting a boss. Overall, KFK is a decent game, but Shinobi and Black Belt are far superior.
