I like foreign movies and comedies, and the prospect of increasing my understanding, humorously Potential for a comedy from Iran appealing. The movie builds slowly. We get a picture of a variety of people who meet with an election official who believes in getting people to vote. Some want to vote, but their candidates aren't on the list. Most don't see why voting matters, and even she begins to contradict herself about whether following the law makes sense, because in some instances, like a broken permanently on, stop-light, it doesn't. The subtle power of this movie is best in reflecting on what we have seen, because it isn't particularly funny. More ironic as even with the best motives, don't always work out. The roll of women is very complex, some remain completely subordinate, one rules a village, several question why they are too young to vote- but not to marry, and one is an official vote collector. This reminded me of a movie to discuss in a classroom, rather than for entertainment. Worth renting. Once.Read full review
