The 4/5 rating may actually be a little on the high side and I will explain. 1st. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Hardware part of the External drive. It is the software that is a total failure and rediculous. I have a 250GB Freeagent External HD and it came with Seagate Manager Software that allows you to set preferences, HD specific setting like Led Light along with the most important that ability to choose what files/Folders along with file types to be backed up along with the frequency of the backups. This one here has no Seagate Manager Software, Why Seagate decided to dump there awesome software that makes backing up a breeze and decided to go with Memeo software that no matter which one you decide to use all cost you extra $$ and unless you go premium package it appears you have no control over chosing specific folders files or file types it chooses what to backup for you which is absolutely rediculous IMHO. I was actually quite mad when I found they expected me to shell out extra money for software to allow teh HD to do what it was designed for (Backing up my computer). I find alot of companies are following this idiotic business plan, chareg ya for something then get more money out of you by charging you for teh Hadware or software to acess or use what you had already paid for kinda like a double charge of sorts. HD works awesome Software sucks, If you can find Seagate Manager I suggest finding some way to get it downloaded and installed that way you can use it to set your backups and you can use it to sync between computers and to encrypt the files if neccesary and the Seagate Manager does not need $$ to be authorized etc. The one file type I have found it will not backup is my Music Album Covers. Not one single Album cover is backedup from my Itunes collection I get a message in teh log stating that System files and this specific file is unable to be saved and protected in teh backup.Read full review
Not many quality 1TB external desktop drives out there; everybody wants you to pay $90 for a 3TB, which is way more hard drive than I need. This a good quality Seagate drive with all the bells and whistles that I need.

I love it. It's exactly what I need the thing I find interesting is I got so much storage to put on there and it's only halfway full despite how much storage I have

Great external hard drive for a great price. Easy to use and very handy to backup any important information. Only issue about the larger (3.5") external hard drives is that they require their own power supply to function, but other than that very convenient especially the capacity if you just need to backup any internal hard drive 1TB or less.
this is the best ever, lots of movies and data, works great. I used it for my movies and photo album
