The ST32000641AS also uses a high-powered SATA interface in order to offer a blazing GB/second data transfer rate in spite of the low power consumption. The Barracuda is compatible with any machine that features this connector and that has firmware that can view large drives. Drive would best be bought new. I bought 2 used drives showing some serious label wear. May have come from enterprise environment. Intermittent errors until reformatted after installing add on sata3 controller card. System said it recognized drives but appeared tom not function correctly until installation on a sata3 controller card.
