The nostalgia is there and the gameplay is magifique, they really dont make them like this anymore, also the fact you can install and play without the disc, really amazing. Since it's no longer available on steam having a physical copy reminds me of the old days where everyone owned physical copies of games. Adventure and puzzles await. While not having physical copies is better for the environment nothing beats a good shelf filled with old games that make you feel young again. Buy it, play it, and of your stuck game boomers has excellent guides for adventure games.

I found this game to be interesting more than challenging. The graphics were so-so and the cursor movement was unpredictable. Despite the fact that I went into setup and slowed the movement it was challenging to to get the cursor to stay on the hot-spots. That said, if you have patience, need to kill some time and enjoy jump starting your gray matter by all means purchase this. For the price you can't go wrong.

I bought this game a few weeks ago and was able to install right away and start playing! The game has a horror movie kind of feel which I like and it wasn't as scary to me as some reviews described. There's no violence (I didn't have to kill anything) and the point and click interface is great. The only downside was that the game was hard to see because it was so dark. I changed the gamma setting but then the game acted funny. While searching the web, I found a patch for the game and installed it. Although the game was still dark, it was better than it was. Overall: I'm glad I got the game as I thoroughly enjoyed playing it!
I'm one to get frightened easily but I forced myself to play Scratches with the lights turned on for a more dramatic effect. That was the trick. The puzzles are great and impose a serious detective mentality to get on with the game. Soundtrack is simply amazing and soothing, the music transitioning to a louder tone when you approach. Other than that, the storyplot is well developed but I hoped that the game was longer. It would have been more interesting if the character could have drove into town for supplies and that his mission was seven days long. That would have added depth to Scratches.
Scratches is a game I neither liked nor disliked. Having played at least 100+ PC games in my time, Scratches only held my amusment for little over 2 days. By no means is the game "boring", but it is without individuality. This game puts you in a creeky old house where items have to be found and doors need to opened. I will admit, when you open any door within the game, you definatly get, well, scared. This is a cute "walk around find things" game but if your looking for great graphics, gameplay, etc, then walk right past it. Overall, the game wasn't bad. It did lack a GREAT storyline but the one it has is fair and entertaining. If you are a fan of the game Syberia, you will be upset when you install it Scratches. This is just a good, not great, "walk around and find things" game.
