This is the 2nd phone of this model in the household. My son has carried his in his pocket (no case or holster of any kind) for all that time and it shows very little if any wear. This phone gets double the time on a battery charge of just about any of the previous phones we've had, and we've had *many* cell phones in the past 16 years. There's no camera or other blingy features, but if you don't need them this is a great phone. It is definitely "ruggedized" and therefore a little larger than many flip phones -- but it gets the job done extremely well for voice calls and text messages. Too bad it's been discontinued by Sprint and/or Sanyo, because a recent trip to my local Sprint store revealed that nothing in the current product line comes close to the "ruggedized" features of this phone. (Except some Motorola models, but all of them are Nextel-only and won't work in my area.) I've recently bought a third one of these, to keep on the shelf as a hot spare. If you want your phone for use as a reliable tool and don't need it as a flashy accessory, this is an excellent choice.Read full review
My latest swapout makes this the fourth Sanyo phone that I've had, in nearly 10 years with Sprint - and all of them have been excellent. (Note: The longer you stay with Sprint, the better offers they extend to you on service plans and phone replacements. Good customer loyalty program.) My previous Sanyo's have all been straight-handset models, which I preferred - but the world is going to Flip-Phones, so I decided to put some trust in Brand Experience when making the move. I haven't been disappointed. The 2400 has the Largest Screen that I have ever had on a phone - and the large number display is a relief for aging eyes. The Separate Keys are far superior to the membrane keyboards I have suffered with on other brands. Unlike many Flip-Phones, the 2400 has an Extendable Antenna. You don't need to extend it in strong signal areas, but out in the fringes it is often the difference between connecting and not connecting. The 2400's performance is right up there with the best straight handsets I ever had - definitely superior to those with internal antennas. I am a traditionalist, who believes a Phone should just be a Phone, as that is what I use it for. And the 2400 does a fine job as just a Phone. For those who just HAVE to do Internet, Walkie-Talkie, etc. - the 2400 does support Sprint's Vision and Ready Link services, with nicely placed controls and easy menus. Unlike many other modern phones, though, it also has menu options to completely disable those extras - for guys like me, who don't want to be bothered every time they brush the wrong button. For those of you who must have a Camera Phone, check out the Sanyo 3100. Same Case design and size as the 2400, with a 1.3mp digicam in the lid. Many accessories - such as Belt Holsters, Cases, and Chargers - are interchangeable between the two models. Both are available in at least five different color schemes (a different five for each model). The 2400 (and its camera-cousin, the 3100, which my wife has) are both solid performers. If you're outfitting the whole family, a blending of these two models should cover everyone's tastes in both features and colors - with full compatibility of accessories.Read full review
If you are looking for a rugged phone that you can use at work in adverse conditions this is the phone. It does not have a camera but it does have every thing else you need, blue tooth, GPS, web. I owned the same phone for two years and liked it very much. I finally killed it by submersing it under water for a half hour or so, but when it did dry out two or three days later it did work fine but with out the display. A great blue collar phone.
I needed a cell phone i could see the numbers easier. This cell does this. I do not know how to use a lot of the features that this phone has to offer. I like the way i can see who is calling me. I like being able to get phone numbers when i need them. I like being able to get call history and voice mail is easy.
I bought this phone due to its small size and the fact that it had features, I wanted, and none I didn't. It was brand new and still sealed in the original box. The phone has an easy to read outside display, and a good loud ring. It is not a vision or camera phone, but I did not want those features. It has speakerphone, and many choices of ring tones. It is a great phone and the seller I dealt with was very prompt in mailing the phone out. I have had bad luck with used phones in the past, so I wanted a brand new phone, which was a deciding factor in purchasing this phone.
