The Dell laptop was originally provisioned with an SSD SATA drive and nothing in the M.2 PCIe slot. Also, my company still has Dell provision the systems with Win7. I successfully installed the Samsung SM951 and have it as my primary boot drive. It is amazingly fast and I am very pleased. Did have complications as Win7 does not have a native driver for NVMe and Dell does not bother adding one to their Win7 distribution (Win10 is their default for this laptop). Did some Internet research and found the Samsung SSD 950 PRO NVMe Driver which works with the SM951. Had to install the driver in the Win7 OS on the SATA SSD drive so it would recognize the M.2 PCIe drive, then cloned the drive to the NMVe drive. All set and everything works great with OS on NVMe and data files on the SATA SSD. For some reason, Samsung Magician does not recognize it as a "Samsung Branded SSD", but this is not a big deal -- it still will run the benchmarks (168000 IOPs random read). Read full review
