I traded my RAZR V3 for the Samsung T-809 because I wanted a better camera and MP3. Here's my opinion of this phone and features. Pros: 1. Screen display is excellent. The color and clarity is much better than the RAZR. 2. MP3 player has good external speakers. Once you figure out how to download .3gp's, the player works very well, although it drains battery. 3. Camera has variety of settings- from black/white, sepia, custom frames and funtools. 4. Design is eyecatching. More people positively comment on this phone than the RAZR. It is nice that you can operate phone without having to slide it open. Cons: 1. Reception is worse than RAZR. Dropped calls, no bars. 2. Battery drains very quickly. TMobile sent me a new phone because of this- the new phone is just as bad. TMo Rep admits that it is a known problem for T809. Recommend buying car charger if you plan to use this phone, as when the battery bars drop, they drop fast. You can go from 2 bars to 0 bars quickly! 3. Camera shutter speed is slow- causes blurry pictures either by subject moving or your hand moving. Also, camera takes very poor pictures inside. Very dark and grainy. Both T-809's I have took poor indoor pictures. 4. Buttons are difficult to text message. They are smaller and slippery. I make more mistakes texting and it takes more time. If you have long fingernails, and if you plan to text alot, this will frustrate you. 5. Selecting options involves pressing more buttons. Not simple process. 6. You cannot download games easily. It won't accept jar files. The preloaded games are demos and you have to buy them. If you want to download games, you need to go to a modding site to learn how. Overall, I would recommend waiting until the bugs are fixed before buying this phone. If it had better reception and a longer battery life, I would highly recommend this phone. If you still want this because of the look and the screen, buy the Samsung D820, which is the exact same phone - from what I understand, it has better features in camera and reception. You can get it unlocked and use it with any carrier. (or if you buy the t-809, you can also flash to the D820 software if you want.)Read full review
I own this phone and i recently bought it. Aside from its eye catching ability and cool features. I notice right when I bought the phone, it had a number of scratchs even before I left the phone store. You won't catch any of the scratchs in the dark, or under a dim lit room, you'll see it under light. I found it quite difficult to put in a lot of my friends numbers. However even with all these flaws, i found the blue tooth very cool. The clear screen was beautiful. It could display many vivid colors and nothing really seemed pixelated. All phones have flaw. This wont be a phone I could really use in class, It makes noise while being opened and closed. You get a little T mobil jingle, and the camera noise cannot be closed. Another down side is this phone is only for T-mobil. It'll make changing plans more difficult if I want to keep this phone. Aside from all these flaws, im still very happy with the eye catching design. The whole image it gives to it's owner is very flattering.Read full review
This phone was bought used about more than a month ago but this phone has many great features. Many features I didn't know of until I actually had the phone. It contains an Image Editor to edit photos taken by the phone itself, or downloaded images. Also what I find really handy in cellphones are the calculators. This phone has a calculator, a pretty simple one but, hey it works. Also another feature in this phone that I find handy is the Unit Conversion that converts anything from Currency to Temperature. This phone has an MP3 Player and can also take videos and watch them. Except when filming your own video on this phone the quality isn't so great, the pictures however turn out nicely. So if you're looking for a basic cellular phone that you can have fun with, without all the complications then you should look into this phone. Samsung SGH T809.Read full review
I first looked at this model of phone almost 2 years ago, looking for a media phone--one with a camera, music player and expandable memory. Due to the cost and form factor, I selected the Motorola v360. While the Motorola phone served me fairly well, I recently sought to replace it with a Samsung media phone. I did some research and was actually disappointed that the t809 is no longer in production. Samsung now offers the t629. Aside from the fact that it was not offered in black, a spec check seemed to indicate that the t629 was less-capable than the t809. I do enjoy the t809, though adjusting to a slider is something of a challenge for me--I had grown so accustomed to the flip phones. First, I worry about the screen, which is beautiful on the t809. Also, the thumb-bar on the t809 is almost too small, and I often open the phone by pressing on the screen. Finally, the bottom lip of the slider took adjusting to for texting. The camera is disappointing; it is a 1.3 megapixel device, but the photos I get from it often seem to be lower in quality than those I got from the VGA camera of the v360. Also, and this may be due to the file size of the photos, I have had a more difficult time sending the photos to other phones. The battery life is questionable. I understand that the screen uses more power than that of a flip, but I am not used to having to charge a phone every day and a half or so--and I do not talk a lot. I AM a text-monster; I have worn the numbers from the pads of 2 phones, and I am somewhat concerned about how well the t809 will hold up to thousands of text messages. But this is a gorgeous phone. There are times that I just look at it and think "I love my phone." Seriously. It is slick and gorgeous and can do quite a bit, and...well, it is just flat out sexy. It is hard to recommend an out-of-production phone, though. I am looking forward to seeing what else Samsung will produce--and I hope that it is more robust than the t809 unlike the heir-apparent that is currently in production. If you are on the fence about getting this phone, I would say, "do it." If it is between this and, say, a Blast, a Beat or a t629, go with this. There are, however, some phones that, on spec check and first glance, are sexier.Read full review
This phone has everything that a next generation phone would have, mp3 player, expandable Micro SD slot, 1.3 megapixel camera, speakerphone. THE BEST PART OF THE PHONE, has to be the screen resolution, it is better than any phone ive seen. Its almost as this as the razr, and it all depends on if u like the sliding phones or not.. Dislikes: Camera is very sensitive to motion, and no flash. Also battery life is not as good as some of the other phones on the market.
