my first "smart phone" was the samsung behold t919. it did not have wi-fi just like the memoir doesn't. most of the features and functions are exactly the same as the t919 behold as most of the samsung lineup work about the same way. i was disappointed to find that this phone still does have the ability to change the default txt style from T9 to just regular typing. also let down to find you do not have control to turn off the "send to" option after taking a picture. you still can not turn off the camera click when taking a picture. the return button between the send and end buttons did not look as good as the t919, but that's a subjective point of view from me. most of the functions remain unchanged from the t919 but the t929 adds a search feature by typing instead of using the tft to scroll which can be a little bit hard to get accurately. this is the phone that allowed me to combine my mp3 player, high mega pixel digi cam, and cellular phone. it has 8mp digital camera that takes very good pictures. i had to get a 3.5 jack converter to use this as a mp3 player in my car due to samsung's proprietary audio/charger jack. this means that i can't charge the phone and use the mp3 from the jack as it doesn't have a standard 3.5 audio output jack. all in all, this is a great phone. it is handsome looking, great feature packed digital camera with xenon flash. made with excellent craftmanship in a small slim package. it still needs some refinement to be considered world class. its not quite perfect which leaves room for improvement.Read full review
I love the Memoir T929 because it lives up to it's name.. A+++ I love the fact; it does take Great Pics.. I can use my cell phone and take Great Pics without using my camera, which is a lot heavier to tug around. The Memoir shows beauty and style while using this phone. The memoir has lots of features which i haven't had a chance to get to all of them quite yet. The downside to the memoir is: I wish the texting keys were larger, along with the phone sound being a little louder, when talking. I also wish the battery held it's charge. I notice after doing online and trying to make a call i only have one or two bars left, after when my battery was charged before going online. Overall, if these negatives with my were better, I would have a perfect phone!! Although, I don't think I would trade this phone for anything!! Thanks to the genuis behind the Memoir Phone Making!!!! I'm one Happy Consumer!!Read full review
It really depends on how you intend to use the phone aside from calls. it's not as smart as the other smart phones out there but it still does the job. you can still browse the web, though i have not tried this for i don't have the patience to wait stuff to upload coz im used to fast computers. anyway, Its main focus is to be a camera which it truly excels in. Im impressed with the clarity and the modes that are available. you'll have fun with the camera specially if you know a lil about photography for it has features like an updated Sony camera on the market. it has continous mode, capturing 9 consecutive images on the hold of the shutter. panorama which stick together 2 to 3 of your images for a wide image. mosaic which is a fun feature. combine pictures in a creative way. it even has a smile feature that regular cameras on the market have. it has the usual effects, brightness, timer. the video is impressive with the ability to capture 720x480 in resolution and offers slow motion mode. WOW! Its light compared to other smart phones. the touch screen is not as great as the iphone. its still good but im a hardcore texter and im used to having actual keypads thats why im having difficulty with it. The back looks like an old school film camera with a textured grip which is a Plus for me coz im a fan of photography. anyway, im getting bored now, so il sum it all up with this. If your looking for a phone's Smartphone feature first, then Camera phone second, then go for an expensive Nokia N97 or Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 that goes for $700 easy without plan. but if your more interested on the camera phone features than smart phone features, id get this cheap $300 Samsung Memoir Camera Phone that excels in photography and can still perform smartphone functions. for me,these are the 3 basic features that a regular user need on a day to day basis. -Call/Text feature -Camera Feature -Internet Feature rate these features 1 to 3 if camera feature goes first that the internet feature and your on a tight budget, Go for Samsung Memoir! i had a great deal with mine on ebay! Beats all three on my title, I had them all three and this is the best from those three. For the previous reviewers I would like to make comments on, the LCD goes black quickly is because you have your backlight time to min. try resetting it by going to: menu, settings, display settings, backlight time. That feature also LOCKS the phone automatically, it all depends on your "backlight time" setting. Both indoor and outdoors, Photo quality is the best of all the cell phones I have owned. Easy to use on all features but if this is your first touchphone or cameraphone you've owned, than just follow the book menu. For webbrowsing, I knew this phone had no wifi, didn't care because I have t-mobile web account and I can go webrowsing where ever I am and webrowsing is super fast. Great speaker and sound quality, touchscreen is excellent, again you can set this to your needs. Bluetooth function is excellent through bluetooth earphones and my laptop with bluetooth feature. Every phones has its cons and no perfect phone, heck no perfect anything out there, and yes, I agree with the other reviewers that battery life sucks if you are using the phone for camera for long periods of time and webrowsing. Also this phone cannot be used on laptop for Dialup through samsungs software or even through vista or XP, so don't wast your time on it. I gave a good ratings on this because of the battery life and dialup feature, would I recommend this phone to others? yes if you can afford it and if you are going to use for the purpose of what your needs are.Read full review
The good: For a phone, the camera is phenomenal. Happy with the MP3 player as well. GPS is a nice touch. The bad: Touch screen interface on this phone is clunky. The battery has a short life when using the phone's features. Phone wouldn't connect to my computer with USB cable, had to buy a blue tooth dongle. Doesn't come with normal headphone jack, had to buy an adapter. Web browser is a pain to use. No optical zoom on the camera. Overall: I bought this phone so I wouldn't have to lug around a camera and MP3 player. Having bought a spare battery and headphone adapter, the phone suits my needs. I might cancel my web service though, because using the web browser on this phone is a pain in the ass.
