I'd say its a good phone because I knew about its shortcomings before I bought it. Cons: There is no memory slot, the way its made the back is easy to fall off, the keys are probably too tiny for some but i like them, and the big button in the center of the phone( resemble the pearl/ball for a blackberry) if the phone is blank/ on the first screen you would hit that and think that it brings up the menu WRONG it brings up the internet which is by far the most annoying feature of this phone but several others do it too. Pros: good volume, simple easy to find what your looking for, love the speakerphone on this one, and call settings had a lot more options than my old lg vu. Great phone for someone who wants something middle of the road!
i really like this is phone. The calls come in loud and clear. It sends and receives text fast. The camara is really sensitive though. YOu have to be really really still when you take a picture or its blurry. And it does not have a memory card slot which really stinks it wont hold as many pictures as i would like it to ! The keys can be hard to type because they are so small but just having the advantage of a query keyboard out weigh's that factor ! Over all i really like this phone it fits in your hand just right making it easy to hold when your on a call ! The speaker phone works great it is really loud and clear making it easy to use as well ! The bluetooth works good and quickly there just isnt quiet enough memory to have a lot of ring tones but it does have enough to have a few ! The phone was really easy to figure out i didnt even have to read the manual it was simple ! The battery life is good as well i am constantly playing with my phone and texting and making calls with the battery lasting 2-3 days and i am messing with it ALL the time ! i wanted to buy this phone just because of the query keypad and i really do like it . It is so much faster and easier than the original keypad's . I am definitely glad i decided to get this phone !Read full review
Pros: -This phone looks and feels great. -Excellent reception. -Bright LCD. -Talk, SMS, MMS, (IM and Email (with data package)), camera. -Bluetooth ready, full on front keyboard. -Has a really good speaker phone system, and audio for music. -GSM network ready for AT&T, but can be used with other GSM carriers if unlocked. Cons: -Not a ton of programs, the phone is pretty basic in this area. -keyboard response and smoothness not as good as Blackberry Curve 8320 -Camera is very basic but does the trick. Overall the pros out weigh the cons. The SGH-A177 is a great and attractive looking phone for making calls and texting for a good price. If you want more fluff you'll have to spend more duff.
PROS: QWERTY Camera Texting Calling Music store Games Ringtones Cons: Battery I really loved getting this phone. I had the opportunity of staying with a simple feature phone,, or moving to iPhone 3G 16GB or Pre Plus. I decided the iPhone. I was probably going to do this phone, until the one well two cons hit it. I couldn't open attachments on emails, which was serious. I mean I use my phone for my company, I need to mail, email, I need tracking apps for like mail. This was ok at first because I could do a majority of that online. Then the battery REALLY started draining. Like seriously. I returned it and opted for iPhone, and I'm really so happy I decided too.
Ok, why I decided to get it? Is a very handsome and elegant phone, the most important, is very inexpensive compared to other brand name phones. The cons, first thing that seems to be top one issue is battery charge being 3 to 5 hours the average for the labeled 1200Mah gold ones on standby less if you use it. Of course it can be solved by getting a new 2800Mah white battery here on ebay, that boost your phone stanby time up to almost 2 days which is a good deal taking in count that these are real battery eaters, just imagine feeding that big display compared to the old style monocolor phones with small LCD screens. Now there's a 3200Mah gold one which to the date of this review I haven't tested yet but I'm gonna do it soon. The back cover tends to get loose with use or when you plug the charger is almost impossible not to move it backwards. There are some firmware versions which varies mostly and more noticeable with the number of menu pages ranging from 3 menues up to 10 and have heard that there's a 12 version that I've never seen but anyways this is just a trick to make you think that there's more applets or programs in the phone when it is just more cheap games and many of them also are not playable. Now there's a weak point and it is the LCD screen, is not uncommon to wake up one morning turn on the phone and see an horizontal white line across the screen that was not there the day before, yep, that happens and theres nothing you can do but replace the screen with a new one which cost the half of a new phone so maybe is better to get a new one and keep the old one as spare parts or live with that line on your screen. Another issue is the charging input, when using the charger no problem when charging the battery directly in the charger no problem but when try to charge it over an USB port hub always get a "Warning bad contact charger" message, the same when try to charge it from the lighter in your car. Language is another issue at least the Spanish translation is terrible and have heard that French, German and others too, English looks to be better translated than the rest of language packs. Camera sometimes is advertised as a high quality, yeah right and pigs fly! camera is just a VGA or in other words a jane plane 640 X 480 Thats it. However besides that it works fairly well, signal strength is comparable to brand phones, calling, receiving and sending SMS is ok. A very pleasant and elegant phone for the money.Read full review
