Pros: Accelerameter, better screen, better processor(s), better web experience, better, better, better. Cons: Multi touch would have been nice, but not a deal killer. Summary: I grow tired of reading reviews of people comparing this phone to the Iphone, or to the HTC Hero (or other Andriod phones), etc. At the end of the day it seems like most people that are dissatisfied with any cell phone are dissatisfied because it is not a real desktop computer, then they are mad because it is not Mac, or Linus, etc. Every phone, laptop, computer, should stand on it's own. If you need open source code get Android or Linux (phone and computer), if you want multi touch get Apple, or Palm or Android. Just find the phone that has the features that you need and judge it based on that. I use digital cameras regularly, but in the absence of my camera the HD is the best choice. In the absence of my computer, the HD's Opera Mobile is great. I can check all of my email accounts, takes pics, take HD videos, and a host of other apps that get me to the information that I need just fine. I guess what I am saying is that for the people out there that are constantly comparing phone to phone, and complaning that one manufacturer is S*** because they don't have all of the features of another phone are usually geeks who need to get a life. If you are spending all of your time downloading apps and using them to do superfluous things like ordering a burrito from Chipotle, or a pizza from Dominos then get the Iphone or an Android phone and be happy. No one is mad at you. If you are looking for a feature phone that is somewhere between a real smart phone and a basic phone that can only be used for phone calls, then the HD is perfect for you. I guess all that I am saying is determine what you need and pick you phone from there. I almost got the HTC Hero, but it falls short from the HD because it does not have flash and it does not have an HD camcorder. And yes to the buttholes out there on the other forums, it is not as good as a dedicated camcorder, but try to contact your camcorder manufacturer and tell them that you can not make phone calls from your camera and see what they say. They will say that it is not a phone, it is a camera. And for the Instinct HD, it is a feature phone. More apps would be great, multi touch would be fantastic, but a good friend of mine just got the Palm Pixi that has multi touch to use the internet, but the screen is small and she could not open the video that I tried to email to her, and the voice text that I sent to her on the same network directed her to dial into the 408 number to hear the message. So if your are looking for a great phone that has great features, look at the HD. If you are buying a phone to buy a bunch of apps then look as the Iphone or an Android phone. Other than that please don't forget that at the end of the day that the main feature of this thing that you are carrying around is to punch in a number and talk to someone on the other end - oh yeah a phone!Read full review
Pros: The best camera I have ever had on any phone. Takes amazing photos, and great video. The camera is the main reason I got this phone, and it does not disappoint. The internet is also very fast and very easy to use. Cons: The messaging on the phone is not very good. When in landscape mode, it uses a QWERTY keyboard, and that is fine. But when vertical, the keyboard is ABCD which is okay, but takes some getting used to. And sadly there is no T9, which I love to use and was hoping to use on this phone. Also, the accelerometer is not responsive at times. Im trying to send a message and sometimes have to repeatedly move the phone horizontal and vertical in order for it to change. Everything else on the phone is average I guess. Some games, some apps you can donwload, but half of them dont work. Menu is fine. Settings are okay, but I dont like that I cant control the vibration by pressing the volume buttons. Must go into settings to enable vibration with ring. Also this is my first touch screen phone, so it was a lot to get used to, and I wasnt thrilled about it, but like I said, the camera won me over. Recomendation: If you can deal with a below average messaging system and excellent camera and internet, then this is the phone for you. If messaging is the priority, then I dont recomend this phone. The next phone I get will have a physical keyboard but it must have at least a 5mp camera.Read full review
I've had this phone for about a little over a week. I can start off saying that I like it more than the Instinct s30, being that it has a few more features added to it. I like the rotating screen on the Instinct HD, but sometimes it wouldn't flip sideways, but I guess it's not too big of an issue, (but it could use some improvements). It comes pre-loaded with Opera Mobile 9.7. This browser is "ok". The only down fall to it, it's kinda hard to download ringtones with it because the browser will just play the file instead of installing it on the phone. But that only depends on what site you use for ringtones. I have found one site that is compatiable with installing ringtones with Opera Mobile. The battery life drains quickly depending on what task you're doing with the phone. Such as if you surf the web, take pictures, or play a game the battery drains from 100% to 60-70% in a matter of minutes. This is the most disappointing thing about it. It would be nice if the battery lasted longer. If you are just simply talking on it or texting the battery is fine. I think this phone should have come with an extra battery like the first Instinct. My favorite feature I like most is the background. On the first 2 Instinct phones the only time you'd see the background is when you press the lock/unlock button to see the time. But with the Instinct HD, the background can be seen all the time within the different menus. The menus are transparent (clear) and you can see the wallpaper through it. The 5.0 megapixel camera is another good feature added to the Instinct family. On this model there are camera options to set the camera to take pictures in different types of settings indoor and outdoor. And the added flash is perfect for taking pictures in low light areas. I tested it by taking a picture in a very dim lighted room, and I was still able to get a clear photo. This phone is "good" but it could be better. I'm not meaning that in a bad way but you'll have to see for yourself if it's the right phone for you. This is just my experience with it.Read full review
I upgraded from the original instinct to the HD and Love it. I've owned many "samrt" phones and the HD may not have all of the bells and whistles of the other "smart" phones but it does an excellent job at what it does provide. instant email, Music, Opera web Browser, HD video and Pictures and The Call quality is excellent. The antenna seems to be a bit stronger in this phone verses the original, and the camera is amazing. If your looking for a good phone that has great features and easy to use, Pick it up.
This phone is a great phone if you are not needing an android phone. You can download some apps for the phone. It is pretty easy to use, and has plenty of features. The HD camera is great, takes quality pics and video. This phone is also a nice size, fits in your pocket. It is worth the the price!
