This camera is definitly worth the price. I wanted a wide angle lens, large LCD screen, lots of zoom power, high megapixel and tons of settings and features. This camera has it all! I have owned Samsung cameras before and am familiar with the settings and menu guides so it was easy to learn all the new features this camera has to offer. There are even more settings than I could possibly use! One feature I like is that in each setting area it can be set to auto so I don't have to manualy set each shot. The videos I've taken are outstanding! No jumping or sound glithces like my old 7 megapixel. It even plugs right into the TV to watch videos with all my family! If a camera can do it it's this one! I would HIGHLY recomend this camera to the average photo lover as well as any professional.
Here's my impressions after a few weeks of use: Great lens! - Wide-angle, telephoto, macro and Schneider all rolled into one.` Many, many, many useful controls. Things you wouldn't think you need, until you discover them, use them, and then forever afterward, you now need them. Like the ability to turn off the auto-focus light. Or, in-camera (limited) editing. Plus manual controls. Camera is well-built and looks even better. They even put in a sturdy metal tripod screw. The LCD is large and bright. Movie mode is amazing! Very sharp, bright, and smooth - very realistic and High Def! Also, you can zoom while recording. No RAW output yet, just JPEG. In manual mode you can only chose max or min f-stop. Nothing in-between. A "work-around" is to compensate by adjusting the ISO setting if you don't want to change the shutter speed. Of course, you can do that too. In short, this is not a big disadvantage. This is an advanced camera, not made for the casual user. More for the advanced user who wants to know what every feature is and what every control does. Someone, who is not intimidated by the dreaded User Manual. There is a learning curve with this camera. First because there are so very many features and controls. Second, because they are distributed among nine different control points, not counting the Power button. It took me a while to learn, but it was well worth it, and not all that hard. The more you know about what your tools can do, the better you are able to use them to get the results you want. The camera does consume power. My unscientific judgment is that it makes sense to carry a spare charged battery if you're going to be out all day. Only about five bucks, or ten with a charger. In summary, I love this camera. By the way, I have read some reviews that said that at high ISO settings (above 400) there's a lot of noise. That's a little misleading because noise also depends on the intensity of the ambient light. At low light levels, any digital will have a lot of noise at high ISO settings. I found this camera to perform quite well in challenging light situations with ISO up to 3200. The final test in my opinion is to make large prints and see how good they are. I sometimes go up to 13" x 19", but that is from real 35mm film. Haven't done a side-by-side comparison yet.Read full review
I expecially like two aspects of the camera. 1) it takes very wide but clear pictures and video and 2) it is small enough to fit in pants pocket but use for both stills and video. I had read the pros and cons and most of the cons were not applicable to me so the camera is great for what I want. It replaces two cameras with one and gives me high quality video and plenty of good stills. The feature where it will take a self portrait when you smile is rather fascinating and even reasonably useful. It is a little small for my hands but that is actually what I wanted. Great camera with little downsider for me.
Just got back from an Alaska fishing trip. This camera did a great job. The 10x zoom is great and the anti-shake program seems to be excellent. It is a little bigger than some point and shoot cameras, but still fits in my pocket. Battery life seems to be quite good. The lcd screen was easy to see in outdoor lighting.
this camera looks really nice, pictures quality is good, but i'm waiting somethings more, poor options, no a/v cable
