Alright, I bought this phone used and I've been a heavy user for about month. The previous owner bought the phone brand new and they sold it to me after 5 months of use so this is a review on a galaxy S2 after 6 months of use. First, the features on this phone are amazing ! Thing is, it's so many features I don't think I'll ever be able to know them all to use this phone to it's full potential. I owned an iphone 4 before I bought this S2 and I have to say I'd much rather have the S2. The 8mp camera trumps any iphone. The text messaging set up is far better but keep in mind, it's not as fast as apples messaging set up but it's nowhere near slow. Now, internet wise, the speed of any phone when it comes to the internet normally depends on service but with both the iphone 4 and this s2 fully served the s2 dominates. Overall, the S2 is a good phone and it's definitely worth it's pricing. But if you are considering the s2 you MUST KNOW that you will need an extra battery and a charger for the extra battery. This way, you can simply swap them out without having to plug your phone up. There's not a smart phone on this earth with good battery life if you're a heavy user. Thankfully, unlike the iphone, you can swap out the battery and go from 0% to 100% and by the time that one dies, the other one is fully charged. ( Disadvantage- Constantly taking the phone apart. ) Now, here are a few dislikes. When talking on the phone, the phone may glitch from time to time when trying to multitask. Also, This phone requires two hands most of the time because it's so large but if that's what you like then more power to you. You can NOT hold the phone in your palm and reach the top left corner with your thumb. You'll be lucky to get halfway. When sending texts, you'll notice the space bar is extremely small and you will probably miss it on a regular basis. When sending pictures, it compresses them and lessens the quality. It doesn't have a discrete vibration and if sitting on a flat surface, the world will know you just got a text message.Read full review
I bought this phone because I wanted to upgrade from what I had before, as it just wasn't fast enough to keep up with my needs. And I wasn't going to shell out $400+ for a new phone. While there are many things about this phone that I really like (useability, both cameras, speed, storage, screen resolution, etc.) there are only a few that I dislike. One thing being the horrible battery life (because of the large screen) and an all too common issue with this series, a malfunctioning power button (perfect rating and found on ebay). It caused the phone to randomly turn off and restart. It is commonly misdiagnosed as a battery issue or needs to be "factory reset". More than likely it's just the power button going bad. Once this problem was fixed my phone has worked without any further problems. Not sure how it compares to other similar products but just doing a side by side comparison with the others it is equal or ahead of them. It just boils down to person preference and price.Read full review
EXCELLENT DEVICE. This was my first smartphone and it will do pretty much anything. I see no need to drop over $600 on a Galaxy S5 when my S2 will do almost all the same functions for way cheaper. Be careful unplugging your phone charger as the charging ports are a known weak spot on the Galaxy devices.. I've had 3 go out on me so far. BUT this can create an excellent value on the used Android market as the devices still work fine with an external charger and can be bought for next-to-nothing. I paid only 34.00 on Ebay for my latest 16gig S2 with a known bad charging port and couldn't be happier. One can barely buy a flip-phone for that price! I temporarily downgraded to the newer Galaxy Prevail 2 thinking it'd be better and went right back to the S2, there is no comparison. I'm new to Boost as a carrier but so far so good! I'm a younger guy and Boost seems tailored to my tastes. My AT&T Galaxy s2 would turn itself off randomly sometimes and not turn back on unless you removed the battery and put it back, I guess thats another common fault on these. Overall tho I'm happy, Samsung guy for life here.Read full review
