I haven't had the camera long enough to do a lengthy review on it, but I will comment on my experience so far. It's a lightweight, handheld digital camera, that is fairly easy to use. For a beginner (such as myself with digital), I am slowly, but steadily learning all that this camera/camcorder does. And yes, this tiny camera is also a camcorder! I never expected the pics to be so good, nor the handling to be so easy, but it proved me wrong. Compared to the other two digital cameras that I have (Kodak and Olympus), it is easily comparable in most areas, and exceeds expectations in others. When I travel this year, I plan on taking the Samsung with me, to let it show me what it has. In my 'novice non-pro' opinion, I believe that for a camera this size, it's a great buy, as long as you watch the prices being requested. In its day, when new, it sold for anywhere from $59-99. I've seen people claim that they paid $200 for this camera when new, and now are offering the "incredible" price of $75.00 or thereabouts. Just do your homework, read about it on the internet. There is plenty of information. See if it sounds like something that would work for you, and don't pay more than it's worth. It would be a great gift for a teenager or adult, as it is compact, has some innovative features (one example is that this camera allows you to edit your photo right on the camera, without ever having to bring it onto the computer. You could then just send the pic directly to the printer, having saved one step and a few minutes) and is not difficult to learn.Read full review
I love the fact that it is a touch screen camera with 4.0 Megapixels. This is plenty for the average mom or kid taking pictures. I can also edit on the screen which is very useful. I purchased this for a friend and like it so well that I may give him my camera and keep this one for myself. I have a Computer Graphic Design Degree and this is even good enough for most of the stuff that I do. It has zoom and other features that are very helpful. The seller also included a memory card which is AWESOME. The friend I purchsed this camera for didn't know that you could put the pics on a CD or DVD and remove them from the camera or delete the ones you don't like. Unlike a film type camera that you have to take in to have developed and guess at what pics you took and what will come out or if they will at all. So many times you pay for bad pics that it just isn't worth the price of the film or developing them. BUT with the Samsung Digimax I can pick and choose which pics I want printed and even what sizes. I can even print them from my own printer with photo paper.Read full review
