I grew up with the popular Christian notion that the most "Christian" thing to do with relationships is to need people less and less OR serve other people without any regard to our own needs. After all, we should only need God, right? The authors, as always, bring a biblical perspective that challenges some "Christian" ideas we have about other people and relationships. It brought me a new perspective I desperately needed. More than that, it also gave me an increased responsibility with myself and how I manage my own relationships. I would recommend this book to anyone. It is a quick read that has a high impact. My family has been going through some very uncertain times, and this book has helped us stay together AND bring new health to our home. I am grateful to be blessed by this book!Read full review
I marvel at how God gives wisdom and insight to His servants, those who spend their lives in helping others. These 2 doctors are just such people, and the information contained in "Safe People" might seem obvious to some, but for me, much of it escaped me all my life; dysfunction is the result, and unhappiness, and not being able to live up to my full potential as Jesus would have me to be. This is truly a life-changing book, IF you let the LORD of Life in...He's the One that does the changing, and you will grow into a beautiful person for Him. Some might not like the heart-work it takes to use it, but change doesn't come without that most of the time.
This book clearly provides you with the information you need to enter into healthy relationships with others. Choosing the right people is important if you want to be in a healthy and productive relationship(s). I highly recommend this book for those who keep finding themselves in unhealthy and unproductive relationships that leave them feeling hurt, used and abused.

This is an excellent book for those who consider themselves good people and desperately want a good relationship but find themselves in bad ones over and over again. Yes, you are doing something wrong and this book has the answers IF YOU APPLY THEM. It is written by a Christian counselor who backs up his points with brief passages from the Bible, yet the book is not so overly religious that it is obnoxious. (a hard test to pass with me because I can't take much of that stuff) This book helped me to see what I was doing wrong and right it, and it is not just for romantic relationships but will work with friendships as well. It changed my life.
This book has shown us the answers to why people are drawn to or not drawn to certain people. This is a great read! Everyone I know could glean some insight to themselves and to their past and current relationships. Even more importantly, it’s a wonderful help to determine future relationships.
