Like: Missions, Weapons, objectives, sound effects, tactics. This game has a large variety Of weapons and tactics, you can also modify the weapons and add different accessories and attachments to it. The maps are amazing and realistic and the sound effects are great. Ive played every socom and so far this one is my favorite for offline play (Campaign mode). Dislike: During online play there is sometimes problems with the connection "lagging" Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope this review was helpful in your decision making.
If you loved the last three SOCOM Games, you will surely love this one. The gameplay is really pretty much the same as the last one, but I think there are more missions in this one. The graphics are just as good as SOCOM 3. Theres a pretty good story line. The maps are great. In this one you can actually carry medical kits, so it's alot less frustrating, now you can revive your downed fireteam. You can carry armor, and extra ammo. There were several other equipment improvements from the last ones, including, teargas guns, and beanbag guns (fun to use, and help getting enemies to surrender). I was disapointed in the lack of weapon improvements, I'm not even sure that they added one new gun. The only other negative thing that I can think of is something that has been in all of the SOCOM games so far, and that is the lack of AI. Your fire team always seems to be getting stuck, running into doors, and walls. And sometimes when you tell them to throw grenades, they miss, and end up killing you. I got it for $50, after playing it, I kinda wish I waited til the price dropped down to like $30. Overall it was pretty good.Read full review
This is Zipper Interactive's sequel release after Socom 3. Combined Assault has a few changes. They took out the blood and replaced it with white smoke powder when you shoot at someone and they've redesigned all the old maps to be glitchproof except for the softspots, you can never get rid of the softspots. Another thing is they've added about 5 different new maps. I love this game, It probably is the best online game for ps2 right now. My most major problem would be that the Socom servers are sometimes messed up with server errors and disconnects in the middle of your game. But they've minimized it now I've noticed and doesn't happen too often now. All in all its a great game. Get it!
It's the last game it the SOCOM series specifically for PS2. I don't have the money nor the desire for PSP. It doesn't have as much variance and freedom in the number, uniqueness, and specifics of the commands you can give your teammates (i.e. you can't send bravo to Nav. point delta unless you have your crosshairs pointing right at it., others similar) Although, you CAN send one bravo to one spot and send the other bravo to another. that is good. it is better than all of the rest by a little bit. the graphics are a bit better and you do have a few more things that you can do in the game. it's much easier to take prisoners. rifle butts only hurt enemy, not kill instantly. overall, a slightly better game. Def. harder than all prior games.
Socom was a hit, then came along Socom 2. This to became a hit also. Socom 3 came aboard with its vehicles and new modes online and other cool things also, A HIT. This one here, is also a hit too. Its similar to Socom 3 but it has some twists and turns for the good. Like going from a selected type of weaponry that you can pick, but you have no weight balance or anything along the lines, believe me, it does. Before that, the missions are all good. Unfortunately, our friend Boomer does die from the first mission indication. From then on, it gives you a burning desire to do a little extra more for him whether you like him or not. The missions though are very nice and well thought out. You go destroy helicopter crashes to collecting data and to those sweet little extras you can get done when and if you have a PSP or not. These little goodies are called cross talk and even in the missions themselves you can find "sausages" that you can get, to unlock little nifty things and secrets. Then the squad tactics and headset or not commands are very intuitive. With a tap of a button you can tell the team to either go hot or stay cool, or they can go to you(regroup) or actually go to crosshairs(pointing at that is) location by a simple tap or press of a button.(L2 i believe) Plus when you go to the command screen, you can say the command in mind with the USB head set like the others still. Now when you go to the screen for weapons and stuff, you can actually pick what you would like for that level. You can take a sniper or the classic M4A1. Then you have the 2 options to select which add ons you would like to have on it. Then your secondary weapon can be picked with an add on too(laser for example). Then you can pick certain types of grenades and inventory you would like to have, from extra ammo or med kits, to different grenades and scopes and others also. Then when you select it all, you have to judge that with your weight total and try to counter balance that. This game truly defines a great Socom and great all around shooter for almost any one that likes shooters.Read full review
