I heard one of the songs on the Sirius channel, and found the song soothing and very mellow. Sammy Davis, Jr. sings and Laurindo Almeida plays; that's the simple and amazing basis of this remarkable CD. On June 14 and 15, 1966, Sammy sat down with one incredibly talented guitarist and recorded this album of slow, gentle, moving songs. The tunes are a blend of the rare and the familiar. I would recommend the album to people who are looking for a record to enjoy while relaxing. This album is similar in mood to Frank Sinatra's bossa nova album, FRANCIS ALBERT SINATRA AND ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM. They would make a fine compilation and both are wonderful records that show a different side to these performers.
I originally bought the LP around 1971 and was astonished with this very intimate album. Over the years I have played it hundreds of times and every time heard something new and amazing. Sammy and Laurindo sound like they came over to your house and performed just for you. In my estimation, this may be the finest recording ever made with the human voice and guitar. I have waited more than 35 years and finally the album is available on CD. Buy it, put it on and Sammy and Laurindo return to melt your heart and capture your soul.
I have heard some of the recordings from this, and I am glad I finally found this lovely CD. Also, I was pleased to see that it was a sealed copy in great shape!
