The see inside is a very unique movie in its style for several reasons. First of all the levels of drama and all the different presented emotions of this movie go beyond the traditional independent Spanish industry (which is particularly my favorite). Anyone who is into Spanish independent films knows that one of its more powerful characteristics is their tendency of showing life with simplicity but always with unique events that may eventually lead to a dramatic and usually shocking end. Mar adentro (The title for this movie in Spanish) just like I mentioned in the introduction of my review, goes beyond the traditional drama for various reasons. It shows life differently, from the perspective of one who doesn't want to live anymore and it is trying to prove the people around him that it cannot be that bad, and that by letting him go he would ultimately feel satisfied with life itself and people around. On the other hand is the perspective from the ones who love him, those who can't stand the fact he wishes to be somewhere else. This clash of points view shapes this movie towards a very dramatic environment that ends magnificently. Anyone who is into psychology or enjoys to go deep in life and existence issues should watch this film.Read full review
Great true story and awesome performances by the cast including Academy Award-winning actor Javier Bardem, Belen Rueda, Lola Dueñas. This film depicts the real-life story of quadriplegic Ramón Sampedro and his 28 year battle in support of euthanasia and the right to end his own life. It also explores Ramón's relationship with his family and with two women: Julia, a lawyer who supports Ramón, and Rosa, who on the contrary, wants to convince him to want to live. This is a great film that not only explores a valid and interesting view on euthanasia, it also shows the profound ability of a quadriplegic to positively impact the lives of others. As a reminder, this film by Spanish director Alejandro Amenábar won the Golden Globe in 2004 and the 2005 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
I don't normally watch foreign films, mainly because I do not like being distracted by subtitles at the bottom of the screen, but what caught my eye was it was a Golden Globe winner. I was looking for a movie of substance. One that made you "think" when you left a movie theatre, one that was of the "human condition" that we all belong to, some how in one way or another. The majority of films made these days have little substance, more like eating "cotton candy"..sweet but leaves nothing behind, and of no nutritional value. I wanted a "meat and potato" movie. One that filled my mind up and stayed with me. One that would cause me to reflect on its message. This one did it beautifully. The Right to Die is a highly sensitive issue and not a easy choice for anyone, needless to say for those of us that are still healthy. Its a personal and private choice that takes into account many social and moral guidelines. This movie touched on all points. Not only of the main character wishes, but of those who loved him..his friends as well as family and all the complex relationships tied to it. I would highly recommend this film for all to see. It is touching act of bravery and complete unselfishness of a few brave souls. A act of sincere love and compassion. In todays world we are kinder to our animals then we are to ourselves.Read full review
Listen and watch as family and friends interact and weigh in on The Right to Die. The church might send you to eternal damnation. Some family may consider suicide evil though not damning, while other family members understand and accept both you and suicide. The church, the secular state, the family, or the individual -- which of those has control of your Right to Die?

The Sea Inside is a 2004 film by the Spanish/Chilean director Alejandro Amenábar. It is based on the real-life story of Ramón Sampedro (played by Javier Bardem), a Spanish ship mechanic left quadriplegic after a diving accident. Sampedro fought a 28-year campaign in support of euthanasia and his right to end his own life~ It is also the story of Ramón’s relationships with two women: Julia (Belén Rueda) a lawyer who supports his cause, and Rosa (Lola Dueñas), a local woman who wants to convince him that life is worth living. Through the gift of his love, these two women are inspired to accomplish things they never previously thought possible~ An Excellent movie sure to move you in many ways~
