This is part of the Spenser books. It is a great novel, as are all of Parker's books. I have read everything he has ever written, including the ones outside of the series he is so popular for. Great gift, but I on the otherhand, would buy it for myself. Long winter ahead of us and this book will take your mind of the weather.
Reading this book reminded me why I don't read Robert Parker, characters don't have enough dimension, too slick. And the action was at least somewhat predictable. However, since I last read one I have visited Boston several times and I found that some familiarity with the city enhanced my enjoyment of the book. I might even read another but it won't be high on my list. I am that reader who prefers C.J. Box to James Patterson.
Action packed from the beginning. I have read all 36 novels now and love the stories. I recommend it for somebody looking for a quick read. I am a little bored with Susan Silverman though.
A typical Robert Parker book - if you love the stories about Spencer, Hawk and Susan, you'll love this book. Parker never fails to hold your interest. Enjoy!
