While not a pro at yoga, I have been enjoying it for several years now. My children frequently ask to participate with me - but beyond doing a few basic moves together at home, there was no good way to really bring them into the full yoga experience. I searched quite a bit for a yoga DVD that would be ideal for families - paced for children, with modifications for experienced adults. Perhaps with some partner moves so that parents and children could work together. This DVD provides none of that. (Thank goodness it was borrowed from the library before purchase) On the surface, the concept is great - 3 children (probably 5-12 years old) and 2 parents performing the same moves, and the children being involved in chosing the routines. However, there is no gradual warm-up series and little in the way of instruction. The sequences are jerky, and an odd mix of very basic and very hard. I followed this DVD once on my own, and found it so terrible that I never bothered to try again with my children.Read full review
Who knew he had such a fun personality. The other DVD's we have by him are very serious and challenging. This brings it down to a family level and really gets our kids involved. My 3.5 year old daughter and I do this at night and I feel great afterwards. She gets very relaxed and it soothes her into a night routine with less chaos. Its a great family friendly activity that even my 2 year old will stay around for. It challenges everyone and shows differing levels of Yoga so even my Husband can do this but be challenged as well. I really like this DVD and feel wonderful afterwards! AAAA++++
I bought this dvd so I could do yoga with my 5 and 7 year olds, and they love it. The poses are a little hard, like the handstands, but if you watch carefully Rodney shows parents how to help their children into the poses. Several of the poses are led by the kids on the dvd, something my own children enjoyed- I think it makes them feel more comfortable seeing someone close to their own age doing the same things. I would really recomend this dvd, it's great for families near the beginning level.
I like that all the children help to teach the yoga techniques. My children jumped right in and were inspired, I guess you could say, to see the children in the dvd. We are beginners and found the moves a little advanced and sometimes too repetitive. The entire family of 5 did the same move each time they began. The hand stands were way too hard for us. Stretch bands are also needed for the video for each person and we did not have those. We bought it, tried, it was okay, and we'll probably do it again. The kids liked it because we all do it together.
Haven't used it yet. I viewed it with my kids, and they are excited to give it try. It's easy to follow and fun. I have used several DVD's by Rodney Yee, and think he is excellent. Yoga has been good for my body!
