This is a great book for both inexperienced and experienced home cooks. What I like most about the book is all the recipes require only 5 ingredients and are quick to prepare. The recipes are "user friendly" and don't require any exotic or hard to find foods. Rocco provides the reader with a list of food items that should be stocked in everyone's pantry, the 5 pieces of cooking equipment needed to prepare these recipes (pasta pot, large frying pan, grill pan, microwave oven and oven broiler), and the approximate cost of each recipe. Rocco also supplies a list of special occasion menus taking the guesswork out of which recipes go well together for which occasion. The best recommendation that I can give is that I am a retired chef and have purchased four (4) of these books; one for myself and three as gifts to my "kitchen challenged" family members and friends. This book would be a wonderful first cookbook for the novice cook as well as a great addition to any seasoned chef's cookbook collection.Read full review
