this is my all-time favorite exercise tape (along with the first "sweatin to the oldies" richard makes it a lot of fun to exercise. the music is great (mostly '50s). it features, "real" people exercising, with a range of body types, shapes, etc. it's the best way to recover from depressive disorder, tone up or keep tone, lose weight. richard's exercise videos are the best that i've found for these purposes. i use both tapes in working with recovering substance-dependent women in a treatment program because this type of exercise releases endorphines to help individuals to "feel good" without using mind-altering chemicals.
I have several health problems and my workouts must be fairly easy on my body. I once used one of these workout tapes along with walking daily and managed to lose 98lbs. Since I have been disabled and gained some of my weight back I am trying to lose again, and this was the best way for me to do this. I was just really happy to find it available.
I started using this exercise video 13 years ago, and when the tape finally wore out from constant use, I had to replace it. I've tried several exercise videos, and this one is by far my favorite. I find it more encouraging to work out with "real people" than "Barbie Doll" types. The routine is interesting enough to be more fun than boring, without being so complicated that one has to be a professional dancer to follow it. It's challenging enough to be a good aerobic workout without being so intense as to leave one gasping for oxygen. After discovering this video, I tried other Richard Simmons videos for variety, but I didn't like any of them. This is THE workout for me.
Richard Simmons is great because he has incredible energy and he uses regular everyday people in his videos. You don't have a ton of super slim people, but more real even overweight people which makes working out more fun for those of us that are not the perfect size yet.
I bought all 3 of these for a change of pace and for a well rounded workout. as with sweatin to the oldies and 2 there si plenty to keep you moving and it is so much like dancing than working out because of the way Richard Simmons works with you. If you wont to have more fun or feel like you are at a dance class instead of working out, than these tape are what you need. Do not let my words confuse you though you will be working out.
