This game has a lot of good going for it, and if you can over-look the "not-so-good," then you can really enjoy it. First, what's ot so good about it. The game feels like its missing just a little bit of polish. You can tell it was sort of "slapped together," including some funky animations. Communication among soldiers would be a great addition, but alas it just doesn't seem to exist. (It IS possible, using "/say 'text here'," but it could have been a little more intuitive for a game like this. Overall, it feels and plays like a "B" game. But that's it. If you're the kind of person who says "WHAT?!? The game got a 7.9? It must be garbage!!!," then you'll want to avoid it; however, for the rest of us, there is A LOT to enjoy about this game. First thing is how different it is from other MMOs in its gameplay. Rather than "go find 5 items and bring them to me," the earliest quests are more like the long quest lines of other games. (e.g: "Start at A, go to B. Help B with his problem, which leads to C. Help C fight D, then return with the head of D to A"). Graphically, its a gem. You need some decent hardware to make it shine, but you can change the settings as necessary. For an MMORPG, its kinda cool to never see the same soldier twice, including facial features, hair, skin color. The sound isn't everything, but most MMORPGs tend to be that way. Just run some music in the back. This game has some innovation to it, as well. The action is a blend of turn-based and real-time, so your skill makes a difference on the battlefield. Other innovations include the cloning system, which allows you to create a second character to follow a different path WITHOUT having to replay the lower levels again. (Warcraft players know how boring it is to "kill 12 wolves, return" after you've run through Alterec Valley). Overall, I say go for it...its a free month anyways, so you'll know within a week if you're ready to go on. Some say its gets a little boring and dry around the high 30 level, but realistically, by the time you get there, it could be fixed.Read full review
I had my doubts about this game but I was pleasantly surprised. This game mixes third person shooter elements with an mmo quality. A fun feature of Tabula Rasa is base defense and control points. Randomly enemy NPCs will attack a control point and the players have to defend it or it goes under enemy control. If a control point falls to the enemy Even though, this game is based on realtime combat it lacks open pvp. Players can only pvp voluntarily either through direct duels or engaging in a week long guild war. This game also lacks mounts and the world isn't as vast as other games but all and all its a fun game to pass the time with.
I enjoyed the game because of how high the artificial intelligence seemed in the game. I did not enjoy how the game was very solo focused and you couldn't really make friends on it other then talking to them via headset/mic/chatlogging The games pretty good considering it has the whole "War Of The Warolds" online approach to it. I didn't really get high enough to give it a full rating but what i got into was pretty nice. The exp felt pretty slow on the other hand even with the modifiers. I felt like the onlyway to level up was through wuests and not through killing monsters regularly. It's not really a go in and shoot the crap out of monsters the same lv as you game. You will usually be mobbed by a group of 4 enemies that are the same lv as you and take a good long time to take down. All in all I give this game an 8 out of 10. It's the best Sci-Fi MMO out there next to games like RF Online and Phantasy Star Universe. If you arn't into sci-fi don't get it. I didn't get to play the PvP so I can't say anythign abotu that. I also didn't get to play into the higher jobs. My character is around lv 20 or below out of 50 levels. The games pretty fun if you have friends..thats the big thing..getting friends into it. If you don't have real life friends who you can hook up with and party down with..you can still find some momentary fun in it, but it's alot better with real friends to talk smack with. For me things like "oh my god did you see that..I just got owned by that walking tank laser" probably would become common. The enemies look great the weapons are pretty good the character visuals are nice. It doesn't really feel that dated..but it shows. The environments aren't as good as the mobs or characters...but in some instances you are left amazed..sometimes I also felt like I was in a virtual world version of the old Contra video game series.Read full review
This game was a huge surprise, I was expecting an ok game, but wow, this is a very kewl concept. Still young in online time, this game has bugs to work out but conceptually this is a great game. Essentially you have had to flee earth cause aliens have invaded, and unfortunatley alot of people dont make it, mean while other aliens are trying to save our sorry buts by giving us suped up techno weapons and other advanced gadgets. The game has a high learning curve meaning it takes some time to get used to what is going on. But the way alien shipps roll in and you shoot the dudes trying to make a landing is very kewl. Flaws, some of the things get old, and it lacks alot of class differences, but overall i give this top scores.
The game itself is great, very well done in my opinion, and very enjoyable! The one thing I find lacking is the community. There are a few people who are very nice and helpful, but not enough people out there to group with... Clans are underdeveloped too. I hope these things will improve in the future, but in the meantime, I'm playing it sort of like a single player game with limited multiplayer aspects and still enjoying it greatly!
