The third album pales in comparison to the first two. The last few songs (like "Wide Awake" and "Moth") are great but the rest could of been way better. But since this great band will no longer exist, you might as well buy the third and final album.

As I've said of the previous Audioslave releases, they take what's great about RATM and Soundgarden and blend them in the perfect way. Their sound seems to fluctuate between different genres of music...sometimes they have a funk sound, sometimes jazzy, heavy, pop-ish, etc. It's really a great musical presentation that they have put together. There's some great bass, some awesome guitar solos, some great vocals and a smooth presentation. Some people claim that their sound is getting weaker and weaker compared to their first album, and that's just not true. They're just singing different songs and perhaps some different styles are being adapted. If you've liked the previous two albums, you should have absolutely no problems enjoying this latest release. And, as I've said about the previous two, if for some reason you don't like songs that last almost 4 or more minutes, then you might want to stray from Audioslave as their songs can push the 5 minute mark on ocassion. I think this band continues to push the envelope in the rock world, despite what other critics might think. They have a great sound and continue to utilize what they have with each and every track on all three of their CDs.Read full review
This Band DOES NOT GET ENOUGH CREDIT, forged from 2 other GREAT BANDS, SOUNDGARDEN & RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. Revelations is so awsome & rare in its own way. Title track, REVELATIONS is a killer! SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME & JEWEL OF THE SUMMERTIME explode through your speakers, just unbelievable, I was blown away. ONE AND THE SAME & ORIGINAL FIRE are really great too. Different in a GOODWAY compared to prior stuff released (NO OFFENSE, I LOVE THE FIRST TWO ALSO) but this time they brought the FUNK! Chris's voice is really great & cant wait to check out his 2nd solo album he's releasing soon. AUDIOSLAVE YOU ROCK!
Okay - here is the history of my likings to Audioslave. The first album is the best! Out of Exile - only has two great songs on it and the rest are fillers. Now, with their junior album on the shelves - it really has 4-5 songs that can be played on radio. Overall Revelations is a good album to purchase, but can't touch the mega-million dollar 1st album by this great band. Lastly, through the trade mags, Audioslave considered Revelations a cross between Led Zepplin and Earth, Wind and Fire - I didn't hear much Zep, but there is enough of funk involved.
Since I was not typical of the group fully conscious of the 90s music era, I am just catching up with what I missed. REVELATIONS is an integral part of any Chris Cornell collection.
