In this sequel to Appaloosa, Cole and Hitch find themselves in the middle of an upcoming war between the town's prosperous mine owner and it's down and out ranchers. Thier gutsy brand of law making and law keeping is challenged by the building conflict which has taken over the town of Resolution. A terrific tale of the determined characters that survived the harsh realities of the old west. I enjoyed the simple yet complementary and riveting relationship between Cole and Hitch. I can't wait to read more about these two characters in Parker's third installation of thier tale in Brimstone.
This is the second in a series of three books based on the same characters, and the continuing saga of their activities and travels through the southwest. It's better if you read all three books since the story pretty much continues from one to the other. Appaloosa, Resolution, and Brimstone should all be read in that order. Easy, fast read with a great story. Great Western fiction from the old West. Too bad it doesn't continue with a forth book. Hopefully Parker will write it in the future, I would certainly buy it.

This series of books are easy reads and I highly recommend them. Away from Jesse Stone novels and Spenser but grip you in the first chapter. If you are a Parker fan, give these new style of books a chance, I am sure you will find them fascinating.
