These really are good filters, I like the fact that they are washable. The square bump on the base unfortunately makes them a little too tall for the 6 gallon Rigid shop vac. The work fine for the taller Rigid shop-vacs they unfortunately push against the bottom of the 6 gallon and although the filter will not fall off , it makes the power head stick up by about 1". If you use it this way it will reduce the suction because some of the air will flow into the unit from the gap between the powerhead and the collection can/base. The opening on the filter is a tight fit with the power head so unlikely that the filter will fall off when used with a taller unit. Given that why did they add the square bump on one end??? why not just flat. a flat base would have made this a great filter

I don't recommend this filter only for those that aren't handy and want to risk losing a body part. I have a Ridgid 9 gallon vacuum that this is supposed to fit like the Vf-4000 replacement, but it has a capped end where it should be open and mounted with a plate and nut which is used on most Ridgid and Craftsman vacs it supposed to be made for. With the bottom closed with the cap, it will not allow the vacuum to close all the way because with the cap, it's too tall. I double checked compatibility with the unit model I have, and this is what came up. Since the end is closed up with the square "cap", it has to be cut off and the hole left behind sealed with duct tape or something. I tried a Dremel tool but the plastic and glue was just flying everywhere, so then I used a hobby hack saw. Being round and squeezable, the filter is hard to hold and my saw slipped and gashed my thumb badly. I know it's just me and am probably the only fella on the planet this has happened to trying to modify a stupid vacuum cleaner filter, so don't take that as an example. Some of you reading this probably have better ideas on how to cut that end off. As a side note, I did try to find an exact replacement (Vf-4000, etc.) with the open bottom and they are available, just not as inexpensive as this listing. This one will work, but expect it to not fit your particular model vacuum even it this is the replacement series it calls for.Read full review

Another example of "you get what you pay for." Synthetic paper-based material that filters out fine dust particles easily. It's not a "hepa" filter, although Rigid does make a similar one (green one). This filter works great, wash it out, and it's ready to go again. A good value.

Nice snug fit. I haven't tried it out yet but I'm sure it will work great. Top rate materials.

This is a well made oem filter for my Ridgid 5 hp shop vac, fits perfectly. It comes with an updated endcap, you don't use the original round end, but you do use the plastic wingnut to retain the filter. This is the "middle" filter that picks up 99% of what the average homeowner will need to vacuum, especially good for small dust particles. Noticeable increase in suction through my dust collector into the shop vac. Even though you can try to keep the filter cleaned out with compressed air, do yourself a favor and get a new filter. Over time small dust particles will collect, especially if there is any moisture that you are picking up.
