Reason you should buy this Remote
As the original remotes are no longer available, the reason you should buy this control is to have the codes. The control itself works great but as any universal remote, the button placement is all wrong. The good news the buttons are correctly labeled and perform the desired functions :). All the DVR functions are on the bottom section making it almost mandatory to use both hands to hit the Play, Pause, FF, etc. buttons. For all of us that love the features on the Phillips DVR/DVD unit, this remote is the answer!! Importantly, use this remote to program the universal remote of your choice the way you want it as once your old Phillips remotes die or a button doesn't work, "Houston, we've had a problem".As the original remotes are no longer available, the reason you should buy this control is to have the codes. Great remote. Definately reccommend for replacement.
The only problem is that the buttons are small. I have to remove the slide to use the bottom buttons, but it's worth it. It takes care of every function the original had. Other than that excellent product.

Glad to have this remote, BUT -
This remote offers all the functions of the one(s) it replaces. However, the buttons to perform primary DVR functions are very small and all the same size. The upshot is that while I could operate my old remote without looking at it, this one requires constant visual observation to coordinate button operation.
