As much as I love Renee Fleming and love watching her sing, this is one of the poorest DVD chronicles of an artist that I have ever seen. The problem is the organization of it all. It starts, without introduction, with a performance of Renee on Sesame Street. It then jumps to her performing at Ground Zero, and then to her recording Verdi's Requiem. Besides a short interview with her sister after the 9/11 clip, there is no introduction to any of these things and no reason given of why they are included. You have to figure out for yourself that Fleming is singing the Verdi Requiem. When she is spoken to in interview form, they talk about subjects that don't carry much weight. There is no talk of her on the opera stage or her famous roles. There is some on her childhood, but most of the interviewing is from her mother. I just don't understand the relevance of anything in the program and was so hoping for it to be better and be a real personal, and well documented, presentation of her wonderful career and wonderful talent. If you are looking for that or expecting that from this film, you will be, I believe, very disappointed.Read full review
