I purchased this toilet as a backup as I live in an older camper trailer which is having problems with the blackwater tank leaking. I needed something to use until I can find a suitable replacement tank or have it repaired. I had already purchased a flushing potty, as I have used those in the past, but saw this before I ever put it to use. I am so glad I did. I am using this with the bags and kitty litter and it is just so much easier than always taking apart the other type toilet and having to clean it out constantly. It is lighter and more portable as well, so it is easy to conceal it it when not in use. It is lightweight, but that is part of the beauty of it. I am close to 180 lbs and find it comfortable and not at all difficult to use. It doesn't have any trouble supporting my weight. If you close the lid properly it doesn't smell. My camper toilet, which isn't that old, has overflowed a number of times as the water sometimes just doesn't shut off. I didn't need the floor damage. and yet, it was difficult to keep clean. Nope I really like this better.Read full review

First point...there is no "padding" as mentioned in the product description as of this listing. The design of the unit is good, but the construction of it is 'so-so'. It is shorter than a typical 5-gallon bucket with similar diameter. There is an inner bucket to hold the contents. The toilet seat is of okay comfort, made of hard plastic and best suited for smaller, uh, people. The lid works well to contain the odors, supposing that most people will use this inside of a tent or trailer while camping. The unit is made in Canada, and the best advice is to shop around for best pricing. Find a good deal on biodegradable bags, and double line the inner bucket. We discovered that the sawdust pellets from a farm supply store work really well for absorbing liquids and smells. Far better than cat litter. Overall, these are a better idea than the two tank designs that contain both water and waste. If you use biodegradable bags, simply dig a hole and bury the contents 10 to 12 inches or so. this was a great buy. my house only has one bathroom and it wasn't always easy to get there when i was upstairs. i tried various solutions. garbage can? not a great idea. it was not sturdy and it cracked in 4 places. also didn't have a cover so it smelled. port a potti? kept the odors mostly contained but it heavy and i never could get it really clean. this thing is perfect. i put a garbage bag in the bucket and it keeps it clean. the lid is great and the bio blue along with a scented bag keeps my room smelling clean. the only thing i would have liked to see would be a handle on the lid but that's an easy fix. either way i am happy. the unit is sturdy, solid, and comfortable as well

My Hassock camping toilet was a little warped on lid. Meaning it was a little out of shape. It is still usable, but Hassock should make the lid a little sturdier and at least screw down a notch or two to stay on tight.

I bought this because I was remodeling my only. Bathroom in my house. After that project it will be used in my camper van. Built simple. Easily cleanable. Not complicated. I have bags and a little kitty litter. No mess.
