RED 2 picks up where RED left off, minus, of course, Morgan Freeman - bummer, I liked him. But along with Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren (from RED), we get Byung-hun Lee, Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones added to the mix and fray. And, what a mix and fray it becomes! Zeta-Jones is great as a Russian secret agent (who had a relationship with Willis earlier in his CIA black-ops career). She and Parker have some great back-and-forth scenes. Lee is hired to kill Willis and, well, I don't want to spoil anything, but he does a fantastic job in his killer/assassin role. And, Hopkins, he is just amazing. What a versatile actor. You can really believe, the way he acts, that he has been held captive and probably experimented on, aside from other activities that may have occurred to him, for three decades. Once again the Retired Extremely Dangerous crew must stop the worst of all possible scenarios from happening while avoiding being captured or killed by both enemies and friendlies. And they are forced into it after an online document attaches Willis and Malkovich to a very dirty secret that happened 30 years earlier, though they were not part of it, that very much threatens life today. As for Parker ... well, she is itching to get back into some action. Seems our lil Kansas gal doesn't want to stay in Kansas. Mirren does not have as prominent of a role, but she is very in-character as she is reactivated by her British spy masters. Malkovich is classic and just as paranoid, if not more so, as he was in the first installment. This is a rocking shoot-em-up, explosion-filled, car-chase-full, action-packed flick with ample one liners for comedy relief that is a very worthy sequel to the first. Not sure if I like one over the other. They are both worth the price of admission (or DVD or Blu Ray) and a great back-to-back evening and, for me, earn 5 stars for pure entertainment value.Read full review
I thought the initial movie RED was absolutely hilarious so, of course, I was not going to miss the second. I am only sad because one of my favorite stars leaves, so to speak, after the first film. This cast is so amazing and the characters they play are not what I consider their typical roles. Helen Mirren (an award winning actress-toting a gun and acting both like Martha Stewart and a very dangerous retired agent) Bruce Willis-not just the tough guy. He is trying to reign in his wife who is loving "the life" he used to live. He worried like a mother hen. John Malkovich, say no more. That man could play any role and have me run the emotional gambit. In this one, he has me laughing out loud. I was truly surprised to see Catherine Zeta-Jones in the cast; but I must say, she fit in so well. And Mary Louis Parker is always great in my opinion but as Bruce Willis wife and an enthusiastic aspiring agent who loves "the life" she was so funny. Both the first and RED 2 are a must see for people who want to be entertained and laugh.Read full review

My husband and I enjoy the Red movies: They're entertaining with great characters and story line. Not insulting with a lot of cheesy dialog and foul language. There is violence, so I would not recommend for younger children, but great for us older people! Excellent price, and was in great condition!

What a great sequel to a great movie. The characters were great and the plots in both movies were excellent. Enjoyed every minute. Especially Mary Louise Parkers character.
