This was a new world to me and I found this book very helpful. Especially because at first I thought - what will I eat?? This book shows you the variety of food that you can eat. I've read other reviews that say the recipes are hard to prepare.....Well, yes and no. If you are used to opening up a box and dumping it on a pan and throwing it in the oven, and then opening a bag of frozen vegetables and dumping them in a pot of boiling water...then yes, these recipes will take A LOT longer! (that's how I used to cook some nights, so it is taking some adjusting....) But if you are used to really "cooking", then I think it will be more of a matter of retraining yourself, not longer. It is spiral bound which is great to keep it open, but it does not stand up on my cookbook rack. Overall, I would recommend this book. Nice variety of recipes to try. SIDE NOTE: If you think carrot juice doesn't sound good...think again...it is yummy! My 4 year old loves it! But MAKE SURE you get some good juicing carrots! I bought some "cheaper" ones and boy were they bitter!!! I like Bunny luv and Cal-Organic.Read full review
I love the explanations of how and why of author's eating plan. Numerous recipes are delightful and unexpected. Star system of ratings is very helpful. The size is easy to read but does take up a bit of counter space in smaller kitchens. Also the spiral binding is both blessing and curse for the presentation of the material. However the benefits of the book far outweigh the slight nusance. I recommend this cookbook heartily. My favorite thing about the book is the healty balance between loving God and the sound science proven by testimony.
Excellent old recipe book. It gives nature's best for healthy eating, in my opinion. How about Sweet Potato Soup with optional Celtic Sea Salt? Alternatively, states some grains should be used sparingly as many are acid forming in the body. Lots of healthy information and recipes from the author, Rhonda Malkums. (1998).

I Purchased this Book thinking it was just another eat better, feel better book on the Market but its much more. Its a testimony of the life of Rhonda Malkmus and how cutting the "not created by God" foods has helped her live a much better life. Life is Precious so why would we not want to feel our best by eating the things the Lord has created for food. A Great Book with Alot of information on Toxins and the "bad for you stuff". The Recipes are simple, delicious, and you will see and feel a difference right away when you start eating them. I Highly recommend this book to anyone, especially those who feel bad and draggy... the Body is usually off balance and this book will help you get things back in Order so you can live a more healthful, vibrant life.
Twelve years ago i purchased this book to get a jump-start on my health. It was referred to by an elderly couple who helped me learn how to eat well when i started to menopause and i thanked the Lord for them and this recipes for life. Presently, i have loan this book to a fellow chiropractic patient who has been on hormonal replacement for fifteen years, and is learning how to eat well from this "recipes for life" book by Malkmus. It has a lot of vital information so don't look for any fatty-calorie recipes, that's why they call it "Back to the Garden" not back to the greasy-stuff and creamy sauces.
