Good movie about an airline executive who's very young son is kidnapped by a group of people led by Gary Sinise who is also a police officer. Mel Gibson plays the airline executive and Rene Russo is his wife. The kidnappers demand a two million dollar ransom. The FBI is called in and they begin to negotiate and take control of the situation. Gibson is willing to pay the ransom, but when he thinks about it, he figures that once the ransom is paid, there is nothing to stop the kidnappers from killing him anyway. Gary Sinise, disguising his voice makes the arrangements to meet Gibson in a quarry where the exchange will be made. When Gibson arrives, one of the kidnappers is there to receive the money. Gibson is supposed to be given an address where he can get his son, but this guy doesn't know anything about it. When he demands the money, Gibson says no and the FBI starts shooting and kills the kidnapper. Fearing that they plan to kill his son anyway, Gibson decides to turn the tables on them and goes to a TV station and goes on air with the $2M cash and offers it as a ransom to anybody who will turn them in. He goes further to tell the kidnappers that if they return his son, he will lift the bounty and drop all charges. Sinise is furious and in disguise, attacks and threatens Russo that he will kill the kid if the ransom isn't lifted and payment isn't made. After this incident, Gibson announces that he is doubling the bounty to $4M. As a cop, Sinise knows that for this much money, there is no place that you can hide. He kills his other accomplices and acts like he found the boy and rescued him. His son returned and Sinise slightly wounded, Gibson agrees to pay the ransom to Sinise. When he comes to collect, Gibson's son who was blindfolded all the time recognized Sinise's voice and was terrified. Sensing that Gibson knew, he tries to force him to go to the bank with him and transfer the funds to another bank. Once at the bank, everything goes wrong and a gun battle breaks out on the street where Gibson finally kills him. This actually was a good movie, and was very well acted by both Gibson and Russo.Read full review
The tension starts early and never lets up. We share Mel Gibson's fear and rage about what has happened to his son and how to get him back. We are allowed snapshots into the kidnappers world and the cat and mouse game that is being played with Mel Gibson. There are some exciting car chase scenes and twists along the way, although the ending was a little too Hollywoodish as far as (SPOILER ALERT) the safe return of the boy and the deaths of the bad guys. Other than that, a good, suspenseful 2 hours.

Here is yet another hit with Mel Gibson. A very rich man just trying to get through life with his wife and son, but his son disappears. The actions Gibson takes when given a Ransom note for his son, really surprises you. Everything he and Renee Russo go through because of his decisions and the total outcome are a bit of a surprise. Great action and acting. Another one to add to a dvd collection. You can't really say too much more without ruining the movie for people that have never seen it. It's definitely a great movie and well worth the time to sit down and watch it. So.......................................... sit back with popcorn and a drink and enjoy an afternoon.
Very Entertaining, If someone would have kidnapped my child I would of did worst then what Mel did to the person in this movie. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.
