John Corbett always does a great romantic lead, including these moments of trying to help the elusive new "mom" at the Lutheran school.

Light acting. First half of movie is very slowing developing any story. Last 15 minutes of show is when the story picked up and showed any substance. All women main characters. Several males tossed in there for a bit of variety. 30 minute story stretched into a hour movie. The actress Helen is a cutie. Spent half of the movie watching her. Unfortunately the character came across way too emotional and flighty and tended to lie easily. Good looks are not everything. Good feature is there was no fornication, not even hinted at. Clean movie for once. OK for kids to watch, but they might not quite ever figure out what the story is. If I ever watch it again, I'll leave the sound off and just watch the cute Helen actress. She needed more hugs and cuddling.

I don't keep many DVDs. This one's a keeper :) Rare to like all the actors, and I doubt I'll ever enjoy Kate Hudson and Joan Cusack more than this family story plus romance with hunky John Corbett. I always like Hector Olizando, and loved young Hayden Panettiere in "Remember the Titans," now here a teen beauty looking like her movie aunt, actress Goldie Hawn's look-alike actress daughter Kate Hudson. Also enjoy Abigail Breslin younger here than "American Girl" but already her poise and appeal, alongside her movie brother who is also her older sibling actor in real life. So the movie family ensemble really works. No foul language, drugs, nudity, or violence, but rated PG-13 in 2004 because of some briefly unchaperoned teens acting low-life.

A true-to-life story of family tragedy and the struggles to adapt and overcome. Being young and free from family responsibilities a woman's life is turned upside down after her sister and her husband die suddenly leaving their 3 children in her care. Dealing with the loss of her sister while struggling to adapt to her new life makes for some serious turmoil. Losing her "dream job" due to concessions required by raising her neices and nephew; having to move into a bigger but less desirable apartment; changing the children's school; and the struggle to become the parent rather than the "cool" Aunt all lend to a story of personal growth. With help from the "perfect mom" sister that struggles with why she was not awarded the children, a friendly neighbor, a pastor at the kids new school and some other kind souls will she be able to overcome?Read full review
Sort of cute movie about a woman about town who becomes an instant mother to three and eventually grows into her role and learns to love the kids as her own, but I won't watch it again. I normally really like John Corbett, but in this movie, his role is uninspiring and not terribly believable. He acts no more like a man of the cloth than my tomcat. "I'm a sexy man of God." Really? He wouldn't be our pastor for long! Whenever you see a gazillion copies of anything and the price is reasonable, know that the movie is not really a keeper.
