When new would most likely work well as it should but electronics with plug in connectors are subject to oxidation and humidity over years and the controls and plug in connections start failing in the form of poor connections causing scratching and hum sounds in the speakers. Being enclosed so well its very hard to cleanup the surface contacts of any switch or control pot or plug in receptacle but not impossible if you are skilled to disassemble it and clean it up internally. Most people are not skilled to do this. Stay away from older electronics unless you have the skills to repair them. Due to its age of MFG not recommended. Toytreker
