I purchased my dvd from a man on the subway dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow of The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, At first, when I came home and put the dvd in my home entertainment system, I mas dismayed to discover this was in fact not the Pixar movie "Ratatouille", but "Ratatoing", a bootleg version situated not in Paris but Rio de Janeiro. After breaking my phone and putting an ancient curse on the fraudulent vendor, I decided to finish the movie, out of spite. Lo and behold, I became transfixed by the animation some snobby criticaster might call crude, but I would rather view as an honest, unapologetic throwback to simpler times, when mice cooked dinners so delicious, people were no longe worried about the diseases they carry, and the millions that got killed during the Black Plague. The voice acting was experimental, to say the least. The pacing was off cue, but the sound of the words being spoken was so far removed from the actual movements of the mouths of the characters, it must have been done intentionally. It reminds me of avant garde Russian ventriloquist Sergej Rapontanovic, who used similar techniques whit is mastery of hand puppets (in my opinion the true precursor for modern animation). Either that or they were made by a mentally impaired 7-year old, but i simply refuse to believe that. By the time the movie had reached it's climax and the credits started rolliong in comic sans font, I was on the floor. Not because the flickering of the missing frames caused an epileptic attack (it did, but that only lasten 5 minutes), no, I was on the floor with tears rolling down my eyes, Tears of joy and fear. Fear that I would never again experiencing the joy of seeing "Ratatoing" for the first time. Bless that little adoring, culinary genius of a mouse and all the people that help make this film. Even in the off chance that it was all made by a mentally impaired 7-year old. 5 stars, Read full review

One of the worst animation feature adaptations in modern times. You'll laugh at how bad it is.
