I want to start with, prototype 2 is stupid fun. It's great to have all this destructive powers and a fun sandbox to use them in. PROS- - Traversing the world is fun. Ruing up walls, jumping up buidlings and gliding is a blast. - You feel powerful, You can cut through people with ease and the combat system is pretty fun and varied. - Handle the way you want. You evolve you character the way you wish and you can approach situations in varied ways. Stealth, Hulk Smash, Hit and run? Its your world. - Vehicles control well, and are fun to pilot CONS- - Missions feel a bit repetitive. It seems like your entering the same base, or the same cave EVERY other mission. Mission structure suffers due to this. - The story is lacking. The story is hardly a thought. In fact i find myself skipping through the millions of memories if found when i consumed someone. - Leveling is fun, but it feels like you get acess to some really cool tools wayyy to late into the game. Better pacing with the abilites would have made the game much more fun. - If you've played Prototype, there isn't much that has changed. Heller plays just like Alex. Which feels a bit lazy. -Graphic feel a small bit dated and the color pallet is kinda, boring. Enemies are kind of generic and all look the same. The rooms look bland and the same. Verdict: The game is neat, and its great mindless fun. The sandbox is fun. If you are looking for fun factor and not much else, its great. Take Prototype for what it is and it will shine for you. Expect to much, and it will fail you a bit. Graphics - 7/10 Gameplay - 8/10 Story - 4/10 Design - 5/10 OVERALL FUN - 7.9/10Read full review
This is a really good sequel to the popular sandbox genre game Prototype. The graphics are decent with an entertaining storyline. Gameplay is similar to the first game and the control is very well done. Prototype 2 has a progressive leveling system that allows upgrade to powers and abilities. The story is decent and creates a lot of the gameplay but the thing it excels in is the use of mini-games and city exploration that can only be possible in free-roam sandbox games. Weapons and vehicles can be taken for personal use including tanks and attack helicopters. I think one of the drawbacks which took a star away from my rating is all of the extras that are only available through purchase. I don't have a problem with DLC that expands upon the overall gameplay but to lock out mini-games and upgrades that don't vary from the free stuff was disappointing. If you can get a copy that still has usable Radnet codes try to do that otherwise be prepared to cough up a lot of extra money to unlock run of the mill items. I would definitely recommend this game and think it is a great diversion until the next big RPG or FPS shows up to absorb all of your spare time.Read full review
Everything in this game has improved from the first, but the differences are vast an noticeable. If you don't give yourself time to get used to it, then you'll find it annoying. However, once the dust settles and you get used to the new controls, you'll find them to be totally acceptable, although don't be surprised if you prefer the controls of the original game. But everything, and I mean everything, has improved. There are new types of infected instead of the 2 from the first game. The missions are much more inviting, and the story much more compelling. There is little to do when just wandering the sandbox city, as there are no more hives to destroy. But as I said, the story missions are much more compelling, you're not gonna want to do much else. Highly recommended for fans of the first game. Hopefully they make a third.Read full review
The quality of the game was great and the packaging was perfect. However, prototype one (which was in the bio) was too late to be used. So it just came with prototype 2
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
I bought this game because I got the first one at a local used game shop and it was one of the best games that I had ever played. I had high expectations for the second one and they were all met. Everything that made the first one great has been polished and improved. The upgrade system is better and the challenges are actually worth something. The collectibles are done much better, instead of 250 orbs there are quite a lot less black boxes, lairs, and field ops. This game makes my top 5 easily.
