You can get almost everything for these projects here on eBay much cheaper than through the author's website. For example, she charges $4 for two bevels. You can buy a box of 30 for under $12 on eBay -- they're in the stained glass section. The pictures in the book are pretty, but the text is virtually unreadable after the first few pages due to the author's annoying chatter about herself, rather than the work. So if you are a big fan of hers, you might enjoy her insights about her bartender and bunny slippers, but if, like most people, you had never heard of her before you saw this book, you might find yourself rolling your eyes after her third or fourth assertion about how cool she is. The repetitive, puerile expressions like "book book" get old pretty fast as does her tone of talking down to the reader. If you buy this book to improve your soldering skills, you might regret these wasted pages which might have been better used imparting actual instruction. Her work is not original -- collage-under-glass charms and danglies have been around for years, despite her assertions that hers are "the original" and you'd better not copy them -- but the pictures are indeed very pretty. If Sally Jean does say so herself.Read full review
Oh, Sally Jean - I want my whole life to look like this book!! Each page is more stunning than the one before and the pictures are beautiful and artfully arranged. The best part is, she tells how to do each project in depth and gives many helpful tips and tricks along the way. All but one require soldering, a tricky art in itself, but Sally makes you feel you can conquer anything and does a complete chapter on soldering alone, including putting together everything you need so you are always prepared. I also found that many projects can be simply modified and not require solder if you are not solder inclined. Delightfully written and interjected with many personal anecdotes, this is a book that you will find yourself opening time and again, for inspiration, eye candy or just a pleasant and entertaining read! I highly recommend this book to artists young and old, beginner or experienced, it has wonderful, gracious and charming ideas that can be artfully redesigned to your own interpretation and fill your home with your own pretty little things!!Read full review

Wow what a studio! Loved her studio pictures! was a little disappointed in the overall artwork, nothing really new as far as far as glass art goes, but she does have her own signature twist to it. As far as soldering technique, if that is what you are looking for, there are better soldering books out there. Is a great book for those new in the glass art field, or altered glass jewelery assemblage. Seasoned veterans may find it somewhat disappointing.
This wonderful book has plenty of projects. Glass and soldering are the focus of this book. Technique section in front of book has a great method for collaging.
