Power yoga "demands your attention," says instructor Rodney Yee. He leads a challenging, constantly progressing series of poses, one flowing into the next, integrating breath, movement, tension, and relaxation. The poses include Sun Salutation, standing poses, forward bends, back bends, twists, and arm balances. The first poses are fairly easy, and with each repetition of the series, Yee adds on more difficult movements, extending the series without pausing. You're encouraged to do as much of the series that fits your level, up to the entire 65-minute workout if you're an experienced yoga practitioner. Although you can begin at any level, some familiarity with yoga is recommended. The Hawaiian setting is gorgeous and inspiring. This is an excellent yoga workout that you can grow with, adding on more as you get stronger.Read full review
I workout at home and try to do regular outings as much as I can, when I have the time, in the mountains. Staying in shape is crucial. Previously I purchased POWER YOGA- FLEXIBILITY. I've used it a lot but wanted some variety to gave me the same satisfaction when practicing on a daily basis. I also purchased POWER YOGA - ENERGY, but the intructional voice is too quiet with the background music going on. I like POWER YOGA - TOTAL BODY better. It is an enjoyable and do-able routine that has some similarity but also variety withthe FLEXIBILITY tape, which is the best of all three.
Bought several of Yee's DVDs hoping they would be another great set of power yoga. After trying the workouts, must say I am disappointed. Yee's approach to yoga is more like Showga - lots of graceful acrobatic moves without a focus on yoga's core principals. In stretchy, show-all shorts that could only be meant to get dates, Yee blazes through 20 poses per minute. Breathing - an foundational yogic element - is not mentioned throughout several of his videos. A couple of the poses, particularly the twisting back stretch, are so poorly instructed, I question whether they are safe for beginners. While Yee's form is good he fails to mention how to perform the stretches safely. Yee appears to be an excellent practitioner and undeniably a yoga rockstar. But his videos ignore core yoga techniques essential for a beginner.Read full review
I have been using Rodney Yee's Power Yoga for 14 years. Colleagues at work asked me if I would do yoga with them, and I introduced them to Rodney Yee's Power Yoga. They love it! It is challenging but engaging. After 6 weeks of working out, my colleagues are seeing and feeling the strength in their bodies. I purchased an extra DVD for one of the gals to use at home. The product sold itself!!

I had read good reviews on this one, so decided to try it. I have done it four times now, and always feel great afterward. I am relatively new to yoga, so this is challenging (I can't do a full Lotus position, for example, and watching me try the bow is probably a hoot), but Rodney makes the poses seem within reach. The settings are pleasant, and he does pretty good cuing, though it could be a little bit better for some of the poses where you can't see the TV screen. It's chaptered into four parts, but I haven't checked that out yet.
