The slant of this book is unlike any other I have read. Most of the material is a recasting of traditional thermodynamics, but the theme of conservation is consistent throughout. The development is not highly technical, so it canbe understood by a broad audience of mechanical and chemical engineers and physical chemists. The material is developed in a logical, straightforward manner. Readers should be able to follow the mathematics with few difficulties. --Bob Robertus, Ph.D., BATTELLE, PACIFIC NORTHWEST NATIONAL LABORATORY, RICHLAND, WASHINGTON
