The least vibration of any old or new palm sander. A woodworker's classic discontinued by the manufacturer after almost 50 years in production -- from porter-Cable to Rockwell and back. Had to buy one before they are all gone.

My three stars were for this particular sander. The 330 Speed-Bloc is still my all time favorite random orbit sander. I have more sanders than I have screw drivers. I hate sanding, so I spend a lot of money to minimize the time I spend sanding. I bought my first PC 330 Speed-Bloc in 1985 and still use it. It's a little ugly, but still works like new. I have replaced the power cord and pad several times, but everything else is original, including the bearing. I overpaid for this latest sander, considering the condition. The pad was shot, the power cord was frayed and the pad posts and coupling (rubber parts) were stiff, causing the sander to vibrate more that it should. So I had to replace those parts, which added another $50 to the cost of this sander. But since this sander is no longer made and none of the competitors' offerings work as well as this one, I am content with my purchase. No slight to the seller. I paid the high price because I wanted a back up.Read full review

It's central motor, fast small eccentric motion, and great weight for its size make this sander smoother and better balanced than all other designs. The tool's own weight provides all pressure necessary for finish sanding (180 grit and up). The clamps are heavy duty and can hold many layers of regular (reasonably priced) 9x11 sheet sandpaper you cut to size yourself; a great time/money saver compared to expensive specialty hook and loop or psa solutions used on other sanders (like on the 'Green' tools). When the bottom layer wears out, rip it off and keep sanding. The cord exits near the top if you put a simple hook over a downdraft table, you never have to fool around with cords or hoses again! That's a big deal if you've ever done much sanding. I've used them all including very high priced air powered commercial palm sanders, and if you get some form of downdraft setup, this is the best tool ever made for the job of finish sanding. One caveat, many of these you will find secondhand have been roughly used for professional drywall work and the ultra-fine drywall dust gets into the movement, clogging the eccentric. These are very easy to get to (a few screws in the bottom) just clean it out and put a small dab of grease in the eccentric and it will run smooth again. I've never clogged one with wood dust or seen one with the movement damaged or worn out, it's that drywall dust that causes the problem if you get one that's not running smooth. The strain relief boot on the power cord is regularly cracked and useless, once again I recommend hanging the cord overhead and never worry about it again.Read full review

I've wanted one of these for at least 4 years...since I had the use of one. Now I'll learn if the newer ones are as good as the older models, or not...
