I ordered this because my wife and I decided we're going to start doing some more camping with our daughters. It arrived in great shape and seems to be of good construction. The problem came when I tried installing it onto a 5 gallon bucket ... it was VERY tough to get it to snap on. I'm not sure if this is the norm, but this can be a real headache for some. It didn't arrive in time for our first trip and my wife bought one like this from WalMart. The WalMart one was a little larger in diameter and the seat wasn't sloped inward like this one. The extra overhang due to it's wider size might make it less desirable and this one more preferable, but I actually like the one from WalMart better. It was much easier to snap onto the bucket and I like the non-sloped seat better. This is still a good buy and we're keeping it for a backup. I definitely recommend it.Read full review

I never got it to snap in place but it stays on while sitting making it easy to clean. I won't try to use as it is to small for all parts to fit. However, it works great for my wife and she has been using it inside our hunting camper. So I would recommend it for an average size woman. But, not for a grown adult aged male.

Of course everybody laughed when I converted my orange HomeDepot bucket into a port-a-potty. But when the big earthquake comes (as it surely will), I'll be sitting pretty on the can while the doubters are out in the woods looking for big maple leaves. This seat is a little small, just the size of the ones on airplanes these days so it works for me. I keep an emergency supply of scented 13 gal. trash bags with the seat and a big package of extra strength 2-ply toilet paper as well. Just for fun I tried it out in the backyard the other morning and I was very pleased with the results. I say be prepared and you will be too with one of these emergency thrones. Don't leave home without it!!!

I ordered the Portable Toilet Seat on Feb.5th and it was here on Feb.7th - not bad for Calif. to Arkansas. The Seat would not fit a 5 Gal. paint bucket like so many reviews have said. I took my skill saw and cut five slits from the top of the bucket down about two inches and about an inch apart so when I put the Seat on the bucket, these slits kind of bent inwards and the Seat fit like a glove. I took the seat off and put a Walmart plastic sack around the top with some cat litter in it. I then bent the bucket metal handle on both sides so it will go over the seat when carrying it. Now I'm all set for camping or just hitting the open road with my own restroom and it only cost me about $12.00 - not bad for 12 bucks !

While not like the throne at home, this is the perfect item to carry on extended outings or to pack in the bugout gear ! Fits well on any standard plastic five gallon bucket. With a plastic bag liner and a simple bent wire (not included)to hold the TP close at hand it's the perfect tool to keep you from squatting on your spurs.
