I paired this device with AKG 550mkII's and a headphone equalizer app on my phone. I thought my eyeballs were popping out. The bass boost was awesome and after making a few adjustments to the ( equalizer for headphones app) I felt like I was in the recording studio listening to live music. For what you get for the price, I say go for it. This item definitely has more bang for the buck. Obviously I recommend this item.

This product is very simple and easy to use. I honestly would have loved for it to have better sound quality because the value would have been perfect. When you turn on the item, there is a constant feedback, like a faint hissing sound. This hiss only gets amplified when you use the 2 available modes on the item. It does make whatever you are listening to louder but the hissing really ruins the experience. If you take your music or audio listening seriously, I just can't recommend this to you. You get what you pay for here and the hissing coming through is not isolated to just me. There are other reviews on different retailer websites saying the same thing. If you are not serious about you listening experience then maybe you can live with the constant background sound.

I bought this unit to use on my motorcycle to help amplify the music from my mp3 player to my helmet speakers. The faster you go the louder the wind noise becomes and it is often hard to hear the music at freeway speeds. I thought by amplifying the sound at higher speeds it would help. The Boomstick is a nice size unit and easy to use, however, it offers very little amplification. In fact, the sound level is the same if you have the Boomstick turned on or off. When you engage the Boom button you do get a small increase in sound volume which does help some but not near what I was expecting. The good news is that the quality of the sound is as good with the boom button on as it is when it is off, so there is no negative in the quality of sound. Nice unit but it doesn't work like I expected.Read full review

Great sound. Design is a bit bulky and awkward. My first one failed because the way the dongle hangs loose --it bangs against the phone and gets worn down and develops looose connection. I use rubber bands now to hold it snug

I have a Fiio E5 with the upgrade cable also. In comparison, the Fiio is a genuine amp that will make your ears bleed. The Boomstick is an active sound processor. The way it operates is that it increases the volume of certain frequencies. Since it is not an amp and it already increased certain frequencies, when you turn up the source volume it will distort earlier than usual. So you lose about the last 25% of Max volume. But the detail in sound is amazing, better than Fiio. I use SoundCloud with high bitrate, KZ 4way earphones with the silver upgrade cable, Boomstick with both enhancements to ON. The earphones pick up every detail with clarity and sparkle. The bass boost is centered around 125hz midbass territory. So if you are a basshead needing that critical 45hz punch IT AINT HERE. Bass drops steeply at 100hz. For $9 it's almost free to try. And the battery lasts FOREVER. Just get it as a beater. It's worth it.Read full review
