Check the push rods
I installed and broke one due to a severely bent push rod. Ended up having to purchase push rods. Turns out both were bent. One lesson learned was to go ahead and adjust the push rods. It is easy and my top worked better than it has for many years. I still have one of the ball joints if I need it. Excellent option if push rods is in good shape.

Popped off again, both sides
My original ball joint ends both broke. The replacement ones were seemingly easy to put on, and made the top go up and down during the test run. However, the next time I drove it, they both popped off again while closing the top. Either I cannot install them correctly myself, or they too easily fall off by design. Either way, I'll have to have the mechanic look at it. I didn't save any money on the repair after all.My original ball joint ends both broke. Absolutely essential equipment for all Boxster Owners!
If you own a Boxster, then you will need one (or two) of these replacement parts at some point in the future. I now carry a spare in the glove box! These inexpensive replacement parts are absolutely identical to Porsche OEM pieces for a very reason: The manufacturer is the very same.
