This book is great in the way the author, Duncan Birmingham, teaches pop-up design. I first watched several of his videos on YouTube and then decided to purchase his book. The step by step instructions are easy to follow. It has really added a POP to the cards and boxes I craft. A good book for teaching kids or adults.

This is one of the best resource books on making and designing pop-ups! I have been collecting pop-ups and learning how to make them. This one was different from the other ones I own. It not only gives patterns for basic mechanisms, but explains the order and method of gluing them together. No math skills required to build the 13 projects which use various pop-up structures. He provides information for those who would gain more understanding using a mathematical explanation.
I'd never made a pop up book or mechanical paper card. Now I'm bravely charging ahead and having a lot of success. This book was recommended to me for a starting place, and I recommend it as well. It's not organized the way I think, but it's sort of random-access, so that's good.
