This is a great watch. When I received this watch I was totally impressed with its condition. Recently serviced and after wearing it for a few days its day rate was +5 secs every 24 hours. Not bad for a 20-year-old watch. The watch looked absolutely pristine and unpolished. No visible scratches or dents and even the hesalite crystal was perfect. The stainless steel band is very comfortable to wear and the 39mm case is perfect for my wrist. I definitely recommend this watch to anyone looking for an Omega Speedmaster.

After reading a few of these reviews of this watch, I feel the need to chime in with a little balance. I purchased my Speedmaster almost exactly three years ago, second hand from a reputable eBay store. As soon as the watch arrived, I took it to an Omega dealer, and had it shipped to Switzerland for a full service. The service was an additional $700 above the second hand purchase price of the watch, and was a great value, in my opinion, for insuring both proper mechanical function and authenticity. I'm a little dismayed at the negative reviews here from people who have purchased a second hand watch that was likely abused or put through god knows what, and they expect the watch to magically function as new. Let's be clear, an unserviced second hand experience is hardly a basis for an objective review of a mechanical watch. In response to the review that claims a 2-hour power reserve; simply stated, this reviewer's watch needs to be serviced. The reviewer has purchased the watch second-hand, likely doesn't know when it was last serviced, and negatively reviewed what may be a perfectly fine watch that hasn't been maintained according to the manufacturers standards. As is the case with any mechanical watch, these Omega's must be serviced periodically, or they will stop working properly. Negatively reviewing an unserviced, mechanical watch is not completely dissimilar to negatively reviewing a quartz watch that has only never had the battery changed. My Speedmaster gets just about the advertised 40-hour power reserve, and it has maintained that reserve since it was returned to me like new after the last service from Omega. As for the size, 39mm may be smallish for some men; however, the Paul Newman Daytona was 37mm, the current Submariner is 40mm (McQueen's old 5512 Sub was 39.5mm), the Explorer 1 is 39mm, the largest Patek Calatrava is 39mm, Tag's iconic Monaco is 39mm... I could go on. Perhaps this suffices to say that suggesting this 39mm Speedmaster is a woman's size watch may, perhaps, convey a lack of knowledge on the part of the reviewer/opinion holder. In summary, I enjoy this this watch, and just like with my larger Moon Watch, I like looking deeper at the many polish and brush levels across the case, and the many angles that continue to emerge the more closely you study the watch.Read full review
