I absolutely love the pull through EZ cat5 and cat6 plugs. And while yes u could cut the passthrough wires off, this tool makes it so quick, easy, and professional. I love this thing! I still test every connection but there is almost no need with the EZ system.

The cutting blades, whether the tool is new or if the blades are replacements, can often miss the outside wires after crimping. This happens because the tool does such a poor job crimping in the first place. I discovered a work around that has increased the success rate to 100%, which is to use a standard crimper, and then use this tool for cutting. At first, I thought I had a defective EZ-pro, so I bought another one, but encountered the same issue. I also tried using replacement blades. I recently had my termination kit stolen from a job site, and after replacing the tool yet again, but again had the same issue. I would have thought the manufacturer would fix the problem, but the easiest way to make good terminations with the tool is to first crimp the end with a basic RJ45 tool, then use the EZ-pro to cut the ends. Spending this much for a tool that basically just gives clean cuts on pass-through connectors may seem excessive, but I really love using pass-through connectors, and the extra step takes almost no time. I wish they would fix the design flaw, since the first one I bought was 4 years ago. In fact, that one worked fine for about 6 months, before the end wires stopped not getting cut through, and then I started getting failed wire tests because the crimps were bad. Until someone comes out with a better crimp and cutting tool for pass-through connectors, this is still the one to get. Maybe yours will work fine out of the box, and maybe I just had bad luck, but I think other reviews will agree.Read full review

Had to buy new new crimpers when I discovered my old Amp CAT5 crimpers would not crimp Cat6 connectors without mangling them. These are a little bigger and heavier than the old ones but you can do RJ11 or RJ45 without having to change the jaws. These will also trim and crimp with one squeeze on the new pass-through connectors. So far they work as expected with no problems. I did notice there are some cheaper knockoffs floating around out there if you look closely at the pictures you'll see the name brand stamp is not on the handle.
