For young adult fiction, it's hard to do better than Michael Grant's Gone Series. Lord of the Flies meets X-Men, how does it get better than that? Yet ...it does. Grant's ability to take a story and make it both horribly disgusting, and yet still suitable for young adults is unparalleled and he shows it in Plague. Horrible illness that literally causes you to hack up a lung? Check. Man eating insects that grow inside the host (aka Alien)? Check. Sam and Astrid having issues? Check. Caine having issues? Yep. People dying, going crazy and/or exploding with bugs? Yep. And it STILL is a series I would recommend to my nephews without blinking an eye. Sam, Jack, Dekka and Taylor have gone off on a journey to the far edges of the FAYZ for Albert, leaving Perdido Beach nearly unprotected. Drake/Brittany is locked up, but who's the jailor? Orc and Howard. Yeah, that's what I said. Caine and co are still on the Island living the life, but how long can that last? Finally, with Sam gone, man-eating (or kid eating as it were) bugs closing in, and nowhere to turn, Edilio calls ...you guessed it, Caine ... And let's not forget our most powerful mutant, Little Pete ...really, don't forget him, you'll need that later. Get it, read it, enjoy it. It's worth every penny and a few more.Read full review
No issues with the content of the book, however the condition was listed as "Very Good", "remains in excellent condtion, spine undamaged". This book is in poor condition at best. The spine may be intact but both the front and back cover are loose from the spine, the front cover is hanging on by only a few threads. Several pages have food, drink and lord knows what else smudges in margins.
