Installation into existing 4200, was easy and unit went to XM when turned-on. Only gripe i have is lead from antenna to unit is much to short. I had to place under front seat to accommodate the short length. I have not had the opportunity to use in remote locations thus i cannot comment on this feature. I live in Pnx AZ- I just wonder how well it will work when i get to the high country? Pioneer quality speaks for it'self. I own 11 Pioneer products/TV/Rec?ECT and they are all the best available. I question "poor" ratings? The unit does exactly what it states and does it well. What else can one expect? I am an electrical engineer-74 years old.
This unit was a perfect replacement for my old worn out XM radio tuner kit that I have owned for over 10 years. Well worth the buy since I don't plan on getting rid of my stereo any time soon.

Does what it's intended to do. It's slim profile makes it great to mount anywhere. Comes with a long antenna for mounting onto the roof top. Provides graphics and song information on AVIC units. Although, a bit pricey considering all this does is allow you to use satellite radio function. If you've got the extra money for this, almost 100 bucks USD plus money for a subscription, GO FOR IT.
Very easy to connect, Plug and play, a no brainner, the outdoor antenna is sitting on my dash, I loose reception under over passes, just for about 1 sec. sometimes tall over grown trees cause this too, the instructions said to mount outside of car, But I havent found a good place to do this yet, and prob. wont. Wonderfull item. I would recoament this to anyone
